Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

Just curious as to where you think the price should be? Given the HE fetches more dough than their base counterpart.

55-60k with that many miles, not to mention that absolutely abused driver seat.

The miles are really high for a 2020, but that is probably the cheapest HE in the country right now. They are really rare to find, especially in this OEM-state, one owner + southern and do carry a significant premium when compared to Base. Not to mention some of the (misleading) ads in Autotrader and Cargurus claiming Base models to be HEs, when they are not. I was really pissed by this when researching for my HE last year.

My HE is a 2020 twin to this one but in the other spectrum with only 38kmiles. Not that I will ever, but I would not let it go for less than mid $80ks these days.

I'd happily take 70k-ish for my 2021 HE with 45k miles if I decided to sell.
With those low miles, you can get much more than that at BAT, assuming your is not heavily modded. Check the previous auctions there.

How do people realistically buy from Carmax? Are they pre reserved before they even hit the website? There was a period of time when I tried to "stalk" Carmax's website every hour on a daily basis, just to see what happens. And almost every time a new vehicle shows up it's already reserved. Does Carmax price their 200 significantly cheaper? Or do people trust Carmax more than dealers? Why do 200s fly off the shelf that quickly on Carmax, where as they will sit on dealers or websites like Autotempest for months.

You have to follow a car and turn on e-mail alerts. Can you usually have first crack at it. As mentioned, costs nothing to reserve and I would love to know the rate they resurface, seems decently high for some models.

Regardless, that's a crazy retail # for those miles...but I'll sure as hell take it, they've been running up hard. Didn't think my $72k pre-tax with59k mile CPO'd March of 2024' transaction would look so solid in the rearview.

Yeah, pricing is always subjective. The HE is mostly a cosmetic package, and while rarity adds some value, high mileage still impacts depreciation. As an HE owner, I’m sure you’d love to see values stay high, but a 5+ year-old vehicle with 125K miles has its realities. Even with the 200 (especially 2016+ models) holding value better than most, there’s still a point where mileage catches up. Also, BAT is a different market—low-mile, enthusiast-grade examples get top dollar there, but a high-mileage daily driver isn’t going to command the same premium in a regular sale.

Personally, I would just have a hard time paying that much for it. That doesn't mean I'm right, and clearly, the market commands the high price, given it was reserved instantly.

I think their wallet was weighing the seat down. Maybe it's just bad lighting.

$65k for a 2020 with 125k miles seems too high to me. I paid $68k for a CPO 2020 LX with 36k miles a few months ago, and frankly there are even better deals out there on LXs. Seems like quite a premium to pay about the same price for a truck with 90k more miles that is basically the same except for badging and minimal stylistic differences.

As a current HE owner I agree. Also it is 100% a cosmetic package. If anything it actually removes things you can get in the standard issue 200. For $65k you can find a regular, face lifted 200 with 50-40% of the mileage. Much better buy IMO.

Agree on all counts, but Carmax knows it is a harder-to-find trim so they price accordingly, and I bet it will sell to the guy that reserved it right away. That seat really looks mangled. Probably a chuubbier owner sliding in and out for all those miles.

You got a great deal, but the LXs notoriously sell for less than the LCs in the used market. If it was an LC, I think you would have had to pay at least $5k more for your ride.

I don't know. To each their own. To me personally, the HE is a great appeal with the cosmetic changes that makes it "less boring" than the Base. My previous LC was a base 2018 and I tried to make it an HE with wheels and a BP51 lift. Looked great, but I hated the ride. Nothing rides like OEM and the HE gives you the slightly higher ride with OEM in the back and I only added a pre-collar in the front to achieve good clearance for 99% of trails I go and kept the OEM ride.

I prefer and sought after a HE myself because of the factory 3rd row delete. That is what gives the rear end that slightly higher stance you refer to and I just flat out have no desire or need for a 3rd row of seats.

I get it. The LCs are awesome and they have the venerable nameplate. Personally I just found it hard to justify a significantly greater expense for an essentially equivalent truck (honestly I think the difference is more like $10-15k). Given the inflated prices in the used LC market, it’s hard to understand why one would pay such a huge premium basically just to have the LC badge. I guess some just refuse to be seen in a Lexus.

I have no problem with being seen in a Lexus but am not a fan of the predator grill nor am I fan of the big gaudy steel bumpers in the aftermarket. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way…

The predator grill drives me crazy or I'd just buy a 570. The older ones I can almost handle, but they just keep making it bigger. It is ridiculous.

The grill has grown on me to some extent. It definitely makes them distinctive so you can see one coming a mile away. That said, I’m cutting mine about halfway to install the aftermarket bumper and cutting away the sideboards to put in the sliders. I like the way the CBI bumper and sliders look (on others trucks) but I’m just hoping that they don’t disintegrate on me over time due to the past production issues I’ve heard about.

Yep. One's a Real Land Cruiser. And the other is a Lexus.
If I had a Time Machine to go back to 2021, I’d definitely buy an LC HE. Unfortunately for those of us that lacked the wisdom or means of many of you guys, today a buyer has to pay a huge premium for that name.

Ugh. Reminds me of back in 2020 when I decided I wanted out of the full size truck game. I started shopping for and eventually bought a 4Runner but I remember going into the showroom of the dealer I eventually purchased from and they had a brand new, white HE on the floor with a big, bright discount tag on the windshield. Something like 5-6k OFF sticker, I don't recall exactly. I really had no idea what it was and only wish I had known better at the time. What can ya do? 🤷‍♂️

Ah! Totally forgot that. Same same here. The lack of third row was very high on my list of why pursue an HE, together with the taller springs in the back, no door molding and the darker chrome all around.

Did LX for the 100. Had to do LC this time around. Didn’t intend to buy an HE when I started, ended up with one. Can’t go wrong with any of the products really, all great. We can all thank 250 for elongating and flattening depreciation curve.

I do agree that miles keep things down, BaT is a select few best of the best…but a rising tide lifts all ships. A driven 40ish-K mile HE selling for 90k+ is a pretty solid comp for the way most are used. That CarMax unit is more of an outlier. Retailers also know what they have…they’re expensive everywhere.

I had a similar hindsight regret on the FJ Cruiser. I had an opportunity to buy a basically brand new (less than 3000 mile) 2014 TTUE 6 speed manual in the color I liked for 35k about 10 years ago. That still hurts. A similar truck with 130k miles sold on bat a few months ago for 30k. The prices have softened like everything else recently, but driving a truck for 10 years and selling it for 5k less than you paid would have been something.

I knew when those were discontinued that they would do something like that. Still didn't buy it.
