Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

Were certainly at the point where you can get a clean, one owner 16+ for 50 or under relatively easy. Just might take a little looking.
Yup a clean 16+ for $50k is not hard at all. You can even find a 18+ at 100k miles at $50k. Except the garaged 200s, we're definitely pass the initial depreciation for a regularly driven 200. The biggest problem I find with the 200 is simply there are just not enough vehicles. Even if you have no preference, you're looking at maybe 5-8 new vehicle listings per week. But the moment you have some preference, even with something as simple as wanting a silver one, you're down to 1-2 new listings per week. Shopping for a 200 requires a ton of patience to find the right one.

Normally I would 100% agree, but with how low the sales numbers of these were, I don't think BaT prices are that crazy. At this point, most of the one owner "stealth wealth" original buyer vehicles have moved on to the enthusiast market. View attachment 3868974

I was thoroughly watching this one as I bought my 2017. It's one year newer with 15k miles less, but went for over 10k more. I think it was "fair"

What I was trying to say is that BaT brings some of the highest prices for Land Cruisers. Those inflated values don’t translate over to increased values on residual/wholesale and only occasionally someone (could be a dealer or private party) will try and retail theirs for something along the lines of what BaT brings.

I just had my HE (a 2021 with 24k miles) appraised by a dealer who took in a 2020 HE with 62k on the clock. They are asking $93k for theirs and only offered me $75k on a truck that is a year newer and has a third of the miles lol. Based on that I’m betting they took that one in at low to mid $60’s

Morning all. I am relatively new to the forum and have been learning an immense amount of information from the community within. That said I’ve been searching for a 100 or 200 series for a while now but have yet to pull the trigger. Recently I’ve come across a 1 owner 2013 lc200 with approximately 75k miles in good condition, no rust, fairly week documented maintenance, with some minor cosmetic imperfections also a 3 owner 2013 in the low 100k mileage range. What would be a ballpark fair price range for these vehicles? I realize this is ambiguous to a degree but thought the forum may offer some insight.
Thanks in advance.

This dealer is obviously not a fair one (to say the least) and the reason why dealers take such a bad rep. Taking something in for say $65k and trying to sell for $93k is ludicrous and deceptive. In addition, a 2020HE with 62k miles for $93k is also ludicrous no matter how much they paid for. Almost a year ago I paid $80k for my 2020HE with 34kmiles and as a Gold CPO. If anything, they could be asking $93k for YOUR truck based on miles/year and being a HE.

You should consider a consignment sale with a reputable dealer. I think you could get a lot better value than this dealer is offering.

My point exactly. They asked me what I wanted and I said, I'm willing to trade you straight up and have you write ME a check for the difference (we can start $10k)

I definitely could and may end up doing that. I have been putting myself thru another round of mental gymnastics here. Living in Dallas and DD'ing a 200 has honestly started to not make much sense to me for a number of reasons. I love the truck but am not really using it's best attributes here in the city. I have a place in Colorado where I could and would use the capability but to me it makes no sense to go park a $85-$90k LC up there and only drive it a handful of times a year. Enter my latest plan... cash out on the HE and find something cheaper for offroad duty (sub $50k, reliable, capable) and park in CO. Get something else better suited to city/daily driving here in TX.

I know a good consignment guy here in Dallas if you decide to go that route. I’m in Dallas too.

stop being so practical

If I had a place in CO where I could park my '21 HE and occasionally use it to its potential, there is no way in hell I'd sell it. They'll have to pry that thing from my rigor mortis hands when I'm dead.

For reference, my '21 HE is currently parked in a garage in NJ, where it only gets driven a handful of times a year. And the roads in NJ are crap compared to CO.

Here is a suggestion. If you do not have to drive all the way to the trails in CO and if the trails you go are not rubicon-style, I would just by a 5th gen 4runner Pro or TRDOP, park it there and use it to go off-roading. Reliable, capable, built in Japan, etc, etc. What kills the 5th gen (and I own one) is the transmission limited to 5 gears. The constant hunting is tiring for road trips in the interstate going from TX to CO. That was one of the many reasons why I bought my 200HE, road tripping to the trails is amazingly comfortable with the 5.7 and 8 gears and I do not need to tell you about off-road capability. If the runner is already there, problem solved.

All that said though, not an easy task to let go of a 200HE. Especially after the 250 debacle and the LX600/700 stupid noooose.

Think a little down the road. If you have an HE 20 years from now with less than 50k on the clock... As long as its getting some use, I don't see how you lose.

I just bought a Grey 2019 with 59k miles for $66,250 + tax title etc... It is the cleanest used car, inside and out, I have ever seen (which is a lot). Always in NC with zero rust.

My adult son is taking my 2013 as his 2015 GMC Sierra just had the transmission go out with about 140k miles and it would be $7,500 to replace it. He just sold it as is where is to them. I guess the upside is I got one of the last year model trucks that are the end of an era!

Unexpected return to cruiser ownership, actually went looking at a late model 4r and saw this on the same lot. Caredge had it sitting for 2+ months and the dealer was motivated to move it. Brought it home on Valentines and began to investigate more of its history as it looked so well put together as a package. The last two days have been a deep-dive into 200s on mud.
Come to find out this is an Ed Martin build and spent most of its life in KY before it landed in the Houston metro secondary market.
2019 w/85k miles for $56k w/rack,sliders,rear bumper and BP-51s. (Thanks to @Eric Sarjeant for the spec list!)
I wonder why it sat for 2 months?

How do people realistically buy from Carmax? Are they pre reserved before they even hit the website? There was a period of time when I tried to "stalk" Carmax's website every hour on a daily basis, just to see what happens. And almost every time a new vehicle shows up it's already reserved. Does Carmax price their 200 significantly cheaper? Or do people trust Carmax more than dealers? Why do 200s fly off the shelf that quickly on Carmax, where as they will sit on dealers or websites like Autotempest for months.
excellent questions....

I prefer and sought after a HE myself because of the factory 3rd row delete. That is what gives the rear end that slightly higher stance you refer to and I just flat out have no desire or need for a 3rd row of seats.
I keep seeing this, but can one just remove the 3rd row from any year model?

Presently looking at a 2017, CPO by Toyo dealer, 98,000 miles, 12 month/12,000 mile warranty for $63,000 out the door. Clean under-carriage.
Regardless, still seems high. Originally stickered at $86,000.
Thoughts?

Oh I entirely agree. I've read your whole GX550 experience and what not. I still think keeping the HE in CO even if it gets used a few times a year it will only accrue value. But who knows with everything going on in the world. Maybe cashing out now is the smartest choice?
FYI my buddies BMW dealership gave the PO (original owner) of my 2017 44k on trade in on a new X7. The "easy sale" price they gave me was 48K, a mediocre front brake job, and a mediocre detail.

I think that's on the high side personally.

I’d shoot for mid 50s. That seems high even for a facelift model.

Roger that...
