Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

Good afternoon, looonnggg time lurker, first post. Looking at upgrading from my 5th Gen 4Runner and found this one and would like thoughts and opinions. Its a 2016 with 99k miles for $47k. i am in Maryland and this one is in Raleigh, North Carolina It is a Florida/North Carolina vehicle so I would need to see underside but safe to say it has never seen salt. Carfax shows 1 owner and dealer maintenance its whole life. Couple minor "accidents".

I guess my big fear is 1)Ive never bought a vehicle remote, and 2) it has been for sale for 6 months. There are not many 2016+ Land Cruisers for under $50k let alone one that looks extremely clean. Can you guys take a look and let me know your thoughts?

Welcome Friend! Looks really great in the photos but the price seems too good to be true. There has to be a catch. I *don’t* like the notation “Vehicle Submerged” on Event 3 in the carfax.

For a truck with these red flags, I would want to inspect personally and take it for a test drive, or at least pay a reputable mechanic for a good PPI. I would not be confident buying this remotely.

Good luck on your search! Hope you find your truck soon, whether this one or another.

Price is good. Dealer serviced up till 80k then it went to walmart for tires and a Take 5 oil change, that's a bit disheartening but otherwise a good carfax.

This is a little concerning, but it could also be nothing.
  • Accident reported: minor damage
    • It hit a stationary object
    • Vehicle submerged
    • Damage to front
    • Vehicle disabled
    • Vehicle towed

I'd certainly pay for a PPI if your doing a fly and buy. It's one thing on a $5k vehicle, another on a $50k. That steering wheel looks rewraped, no sign of the rad leaking (though it looks freshly washed and detailed so who knows). I love nice rust free southern cars, but Florida is hit or miss if it was a coastal car.
There picture taker leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks guys, i'll keep you updated once the dealer gets back to me. I checked and its only 5.5 hours away from me so not too bad. I would be able to see it in person before buying.

It has been sold for over a month. They radio was burned out and they replacement unit was defective so they were waiting on replacement.

Ahh thanks for the heads up. So far the dealerships communication skills are lacking. I hope the new owner enjoys it. The search continues....

I am no expert in carfax, so never seen this notation before "vehicle submerged". Why would that be there if not for the car being flooded? I know carfax is a hit or miss, but I would be very weary of buying a car with that notation.

It was on my list to ask the dealer because it appeared that the event took place while they were in possession of it so if they didn't have a good answer I was going to move on.

I went over and looked at it back in December and they were replacing the amp under the seat so I couldn't drive it. I asked about the "vehicle submerged" and the salesman told me it was because the previous owner ran it into a ditch with standing water during a storm but nothing got in the vehicle but they were replacing the amp? Sounded fishy, but either way I wanted to drive it when it was fixed and called and texted several times and never heard anything back from them--its like they didnt want to sell it. Looking back there were red flags on that one and I am very happy with my choice of waiting and getting my 2015 LC.

If its not too far (or too many miles for you) take a look at this 2016 in Asheville for under $40k

It would certainly make me look at a lot of things very closely. Especially being from Florida which is probably the flooded car capital of the US. Have them put it up on a lift and check inside the fame rails for silt. Back when I worked at a dealership I had more than one used car prep come through with obvious flood damage, we just sent them to wholesale. No matter how good you clean there's always evidence.

This tells you all you need to know. Could have have been as simple as the PO getting stuck in a ditch? Sure, but if the amp was getting replaced...
Very cool someone here already looked at it, I'd put it in the don't buy file.

Picked up the 2017 yesterday, couldn't be happier!

I think I'd have just as many if not more "vehicle submerged" concerns with one being that's being sold in Asheville

Someone (not me) already reserved on Carmax, but interesting data point on price of used 2020 Heritage Edition.

$65k w/ 126k miles
How do people realistically buy from Carmax? Are they pre reserved before they even hit the website? There was a period of time when I tried to "stalk" Carmax's website every hour on a daily basis, just to see what happens. And almost every time a new vehicle shows up it's already reserved. Does Carmax price their 200 significantly cheaper? Or do people trust Carmax more than dealers? Why do 200s fly off the shelf that quickly on Carmax, where as they will sit on dealers or websites like Autotempest for months.

Purely speculation but:

  • The LC was available earlier this morning, then was reserved. It costs nothing to reserve, so likely someone just holding their spot in line.
  • As for why Carmax over other dealers - I think they have a bit more flexible "trial period" where you can return.

I bought my Volvo from CarMax and had an alert set up for what i was looking for, which was a fairly rare spec, and was able to jump on it as soon as it was available

That make sense. And its also really cheap to ship the car cross country through Carmax, as oppose to fly out of state yourself and drive back.

I see. Wasn't aware of the alert option. Definitely makes life easier for sure.
