It was a lot of real estate, but it's looking really good. Not perfect but good. It's a hard decision when to stop or when to keep going.
We got the rear quarter fixed and in prime today. There was a decent sized dent in it and the rear bumper corner hit the bottom. It still needs sanded.

So funny!!
Was my same dilema- how far do I go.
What helped me was that I knew I was going to wheel in it and brush trees. I really wanted it to look like those other captain's rigs...Oh well.

Oh, and squinting from and appropriate distance really works!

A friend owns a body shop and has done a lot of restorations. He's been helping me with the body and showing me how to do it as we go. He was telling me that after all the work we've done on the body he wouldn't take it off road. It looks really good I'm just not sure weather or not to keep going with the sanding filling and priming the roof. I plan on taking this offroad but I don't do any real wheeling.

I also got the interior painted and the front clip. I ended up shaving the front turn signals off the fenders and I'm thinking about ordering the Carolla side markers for front turn signals. I also ordered an LED head light that has the option to use alight strip on top as a turn signal. My question is do you need a turn signal that can be seen from the side? If so I was thinking about mounting fj60 side marker lights on the fender.

Mtnmort,

In Mo. you don't need side turn signals and I'm sure the 55 is old enough in any state to be exempt from such a law. The body is really turning out nice. As for me, mine was built to use, but I don't want to just tear it up either. Actually I look forward to it having a " lived the adventure " look to it.

I use grill front turn signals only, I'll wait for the police to tell me I need to add anything to the fenders and then it will be copious amounts of duct tape holding them on just long enough to get the fixit ticket signed off.

I was just going to "fix the body", but my buddy started talking me into dragging it over to his body shop and doing all the body work and painting it. I worry that it'll be too nice that I won't want to daily drive it. But it'll probably change once it's got dog hair and mud on it. Who knows.

It is a slippery slope, especially when you are putting your own sweat labor in...

Also, who was it that was in the process of making the firewall blanket? I searched but couldn't find his thread.

Somewhere buried in the middle of my build thread I listed the web site I ordered the 5/8” thick sound deadening material I used on my firewall and floor, with the 4BT I would recommend using something similar.

Your pig is looking great!!!
