I got home this afternoon and started in on the cruiser got the floor cut out and ready to weld in. I just need to take it out and paint it with weld through primer. The floor braces were in really good shape with almost no rust.

On these braces. Do you notch them so that dirt doesn't stay in there permanently? Mine was full of dirt.

Moving fast! I drilled holes in mine for drainage and getting some rust converter in there.

I know I have 2weeks minumum and I get obsessive with my projects. I was up until 4am working on it. I need to either notch it or drill it. It was all the way full of dirt. Fortunately it came from a dry environment and it didn't rust. It did rust where the screws attached the door sill. I'm having to cut a few pieces out and patch it, but looking inside the rest of the rocket it's solid. I was going to order some Eastwood heavy duty antirust today and maybe some cavity wax. Is there a better product for the rockers. Also, my roof only has surface rust where the frame used to be in contact with he sheet metal. I need to do some reading about how to reattach the roof to the cross members so it doesn't oil can.

Did you cut the roof cross members out, if so, they are just spot welded on each side and some type of padding/filler/jute is added in between the cross member and roof.

Almost finished with the floors. I have a few more rust spots to cut out and weld and need to clean up the welds.

I moved the seat brackets back a couple inches to give me more room. Monday I'll finish up the floors and start taking the motor and all the other stuff I won't be needing anymore. Is any of it worth selling? Maybe the transmission and transfer case that's been sitting for 20 years.

Is your plan to still install a 4bt, nv4500 and a split case? if so you might want to hold up on finishing up your floor, you'll be cutting some of that back out..

If you had planed to fold down the rear seat you might want to do a test fit with your new front seat location. If I slide my front seat back all the way on the factory location mounts it's difficult to fold down the rear, the bottom cushion folds up into the back of the front seat.

Thanks for the advice on the seat and the floor pans. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll also put the seats back in to see what happens how it fits.

I scored a pretty big win today. My fenders are pretty clean. There's red sand in them but it seems to be only surface rust.

Also, I figure i'm this far I think I'm going to take the body off the frame and sand it down and paint it while I'm here.

@mtnmort is there any chance you could snap a few more pictures of the floor pans on the drivers side - where your cutting and what the underside looks like?

This is a great thread.
