What size ammo can did you use?

Funny that my setup is a mirror of yours. I don't remember seeing yours., mind posting up a pic? As for visibility, I put the outlet on the driver's side originally because my old fridge sat on top of the old drawers, blocking a good bit of view, so having it on that side was ideal.

I'm going to use Spar Uretheane on the wood this time around. Now that I've got a pickup, I'm hoping I won't need to load a bunch of stuff in Moonshine, so I'm hoping that the urethane will last a good long while. We shall see.

Still need to design the front section, but it will be permanently mounted. Haven't had the rear seats in Moonshine in a few years so I threw them out a few months ago. She's officially a two-seater

I kinda hated not being able to open my fridge lid all the way: one hand holding it open, one to retrieve whatever. Plus in the rear I had to climb on the tailgate to see down into the fridge. I now have my fridge on the floor behind the front passenger seat and I like that I can stand close to it when I open the side door and I can flip the lid all the way open. I or a passenger can also get into it from the front seat in a pinch .

It's better than the setup I had previously already, and with the added feature of being able to pull the lid off, I think I'll be happy.

Yeah, keep meaning to get a picture and throw some updates on my thread. Like you I did want to have some kind of access into the fridge so it needed to sit close to the floor. That changed my last setup that never made it into my cruiser. I have set up a power station on my passenger side rear panel and also store my CO2 bottle on that side.

I used the 50 cal sized ammo cans.

Decided on doing a slide-out kitchen like in this video. I plan to transition to more two-person camping with my better half and this would give us more room to prepare meals, in addition to being able to use this inside a cabin or motel. In addition, I could leave the kitchen at a campsite to be used while the truck is taken somewhere to pick up a part or run a trail or whatever:



As such, I ordered some legs from the following website to build it Need to wait for the legs to get here to decide on dimensions.

I replaced the hatch latch:

Mounted the fridge. Can't open the lid very high, but the lid pops off easily, and with the lid off, I can get the basket off with ease:

On the mechanical front, as you can see by the big puddle of diesel, I had a fuel leak. The aluminum hard line had worn through underneath one of the rubber isolated clamps. I'm guessing grit or a rock got up in there and wore through the aluminum line. The fix was to replace the defective aluminum hardline with longer sections of stainless braided -6AN soft lines. The -6AN soft line size slides firmly onto the factory feed and return fittings so it can be clamped there with the factory pinch clamp or a small worm gear clamp.

With that, she's back up and running without fuel leaks. Hoping to get the legs soon so I can build the shelves.

Why did you not just move the fridge over 1/2" so you can open the lid all the way?

Also off-topic but did you ever cap your rocker panels or are they just open?

Fridge would have to be moved over at least another 3" to open all the way, that's why.

Capped my rocker panels when I cut them a few years ago.

Do the sides of the stove not get hot when cooking?

Not hot enough to combust the wood, only small scorch marks. Had this stove in a wood drawer for a bit over 4 years with semi-regular use, no problems:

What, by keeping a stove inside the truck? I don't understand what you're getting at.

Oh, right, the "kitchen" won't be used while it is in the truck, my bad.

I was thinking it would be just pulled out (like on sliders) and still connected to the truck.

That's how the old system was, and it worked flawlessly for 4+ years. It's not like there's ever a time where I'm cooking and leaving the stove unattended

Either way, this new setup will be pulled out of the truck and sat on the ground to cook out of. The tailgate of the truck will be used as a prep surface/seating and that's it.

Finished some details on the camp kitchen and did final glue-up. Some pics to show how it's constructed. Sides have dados to index the bottom and ends as well as the stove shelf. Legs attach to the bottom of the bottom:

Pulled the fridge out and built the box for the drawers. Left drawer, next to the fridge, is for the camp kitchen. Right drawer ends at the wheel well so it's not as deep, but it's wider than the camp kitchen drawer. Definitely a weird layout considering that this is a L and not a square, but I think it'll work well. I'll have hinged panels to fill in the gaps to make the leading edge square. Storage system will extend all the way to the front seats, so once the hinged panels are in place, I'll be able to build forward.

They are being used for long-term storage and emergency items I can still get to them without too much difficulty!
