Turns out that the winch motor on the used Engo 10000s is bad. Called Engo to confirm diagnosis. They sell new motors for $50 each and the motor housing/gear reduction mechanism is shared between the 10k and 12k, so I bought a 12k motor as an upgrade! Should be here by Thursday.
Next up, front end work. Moving the shock towers, replacing inner fenders and trying to clean up the engine bay a bit. Will also modify my core support to provide clearance for the tires.

Got the shocks relocated. All I did was plasma the bottom of the hoops where they're welded to the frame, bend them out approximately the same distance on each side, weld them back in and put new lower mounts in the proper direction:
Did a valve adjustment as well:
Figured I'd paint the valve covers and put a sticker on, you know, since I was in there:

Cool little video on the valve set tool... Never thought if that!! Makes sense too, as with feeler blades you could get a wrong reading if the tappers are worn slightly.
I'll try it next time when setting valves on the 12HT, just using a magnetic base for the gauge!

That's a great idea to use a magnetic base as long as it's a sturdy holder!! Good idea!! I've got a flat tip for my dial indicator that helps get a consistent reading on the uneven rocker arm.

Mmmmmm, shaft. 100% beefcake. 1350 flange CV. Just BARELY fits under the floor after some more "massaging". Huge shoutout to Oliver's Driveshafts in Winston Salem, NC!!
I'm moving from a 1310 CV to a 1350 flange CV. I've blown up two 1310 CV yokes from AA already and they claim that there is no manufacturing problem with the yokes, that I must be binding or something. Doubtful, but they sent me a 1350 companion flange for my Dana 300 with a good discount, so I guess we'll call it even.
new 1350 flange CV driveshaft in the foreground (right), old 1310 cv driveshaft in the background (left). It really is a staggering size difference:
Just to show how much beef there is, (although it's a completely different attachment design, so not apples to apples) the 1350 flange CV bolts to the companion flange with 1/2"x20 1.25" grade 8 bolts. I love 3/4" wrenches
Old 5/16 (I think) CV yoke fasteners next to it for comparison:
The 1350 shaft is so much larger that it *barely* fit under the floor after some more massaging with a hammer and a grinder. Got lucky, was nervous that I'd have to cut a(nother) large hole in the floor to clear:

You are knocking out a bunch of stuff! Must feel so good to finally get to knock out the "details" list now that you're set with the big stuff.
Drive shaft looks good Johnny! Pretty neat on that valve adjustment tool as well. Didn't catch it the first time.

New winch motor came and is installed. Winch works now Will need to pull it apart for a rebuild right after GSMTR because the drum and drive section were full of rust. No time to rebuild between now and GSMTR:
