...
Lorna just went through the entire home taking pictures....

I did this 2 weeks ago when the big river was within a foot of the top of the levee, and the first signs of sand boils (river water finding its way under the levee somehow) upriver from us (our house is 1/2 of a mile from the river...). I actually evacuated sensitive documents to my 4th floor office...I agree that this a very different kind of reality check. Don't let this affect your spirits (and I'm not talking about the wet bar) :). Get sensitive documents to safety.

Jim, PM sent. Terry

We have been ordered to evacuate. I'll be gone for a while.

keeping fingers crossed

We can't even see the mountains in Tucson right now. The smoke is very thick in the valley right now.

One promising note, the winds are going to taper off staring tomorrow on through the extended and with the amount of resources they are putting on this one, news should get positive real soon.
All the best to you and Lorna.

Our thoughts are with you Jim. This is the view from Bisbee on Sunday afternoon. The smoke made it look like the fire was burning just over the ridge.

Quick Update

A quick update. We did not leave the house. The fire got real close to our neighborhood and took out an additional 14 structures and 4 businesses. The 14 structures were on the east side of hwy 92. The Mesquite Tree was saved although some structures nearby were not. Thankfully the wind has died off and is now in our favor.

The fire crew we spoke with are out of Sun City and are just a great group of guys. Their chief is a cruiser head and was admiring my 78 that I have parked ready to roll. They did a back burn last night and have another planned for tonight and then we should be in reasonably good shape. It's going to take the Monsoon to contain the fire.

Lorna and I wish to say thanks for all your kind thoughts. We really appreciate the cruiser community.

Later,
Jim

keeping our fingers crossed for you

That is good news, indeed! Just got back to CB from TUS (brought the 80 up for the summer). Everything still OK at your place? Terry

Hi Terry;

Fire is pretty much contained. We're back to normal at our place. This is one experience I don't want to repeat. Thanks again for thinking of us. Enjoy your time in Crested Butte.

Jim
