Help needed:

I need keys for the ‘79. I have the passenger tumbler with the factory number on it for reference. Does anyone know who is able to create a key using that number. I’ve contacted Vintage Teq but haven’t heard back and wanted verification before I placed an order. Is there another option out there? Thanks for any information.

P.s this isn’t another bash Matt thread please just need another source.

Um, you have the key blank that fits the lock tumbler you have - take tumbler apart and file the key to fit the pins - basic locksmithing 101. I'd bet even the folks at the big box stores like Home Despot could do it. Ace Hardware usually has smarter people because there are less of them. A real locksmith could do it blindfolded.

Locking doors on a old LandCruiser is just wishful thinking. Kick vent and a coat hanger or the door gap you can throw a cat threw is no real security. I don't take the key out of the ignition, except to do the gas cap.

I’ll look into that, thanks.

1979 FJ40: Installed the new gas tank, fuel hoses, oem sending unit, oem fuel pump, oem filter, breather hoses. Fuel system is all new except for the carb and hard lines. Also flushed and bled clutch. Clutch has good pressure now. Next up will be coolant hoses. Getting there.

Is he still in business? I have ordered from him before and I love his store, but saw a lot of people were having issues recently.
Yep! I have an order in with him now. He's not speedy, but he has a ton of knowledge and access(?) to a load of hard to find parts.

Anyone know of a fusible link replacement or have a pic from a '79 fusible link for reference? The last pic above is what I have right now.
I have one on my 4/80 from Coolerman I can take a picture of if you want.
