I left my other SD card in my 200, which is valeted. Here are a couple vids I took on Golden Spike when I flew the drone back to check on the rest of the crew to make sure they weren't stuck or anything. I didn't take much of any video/pics during this trip as Ken and Greg had those on lock.

No doubt and it was smart not to delay either! It's also a similar issue with the 100's as well. When I do get skids this will also be on the priority list.

BudBuilt control arm guard was super easy to install.
No need to disconnect the arm as it uses separate, existing holes.

The saga:
Snapped a cv axle on day 2 of Moab, crossing golden crack. Had questionable part bearing all the load of the truck climbing out of the obstacle.
Left the truck where it was, ride with @Canyonero through the rest of the trail. Got back to the hotel at 130 am.
Called all over sourcing new axle. Decided to go with napa, overnight delivery.
Rested, enjoyed Moab Wednesday.
8 am Thurs picked up rental Rubicon.
830 got to Napa to get axle and supplies. They screwed us and didn't get the axle delivered.
We wound up locating an axle in grand junction. Drove crappy rental car 4 hours to get axle. Started on poison spider 5 hours later than planned.
210 pm, tires hit dirt. My wife was driving, I would spot and guide to try to get here ready to drive the jeep out as I would be driving the cruiser. We did poison spider to the start of golden spike in just over an hour. (A jeep is no cruiser, but it is home on the rocks)
Another 2 1/2 hours and we were back at the cruiser. Unmolested, thankfully.
Installed the new axle and were back on the trail at 7.
Came back across the golden crack. What a ride. Decided to rename my ride.
Was Tabi-maru, (circular journey, roughly) now she's gonna be Tippy Maru.
I can't say enough bad things about golden spike trail.
As it got dark it became harder and harder to see the trail and trail markers. I dropped the front off a 3 foot ledge and had to be pulled back up.
Then an hour later, I hit a rock just wrong and blew a tire. Tried to patch it, but there was a tear at the rim.
We made it back to pavement at 330 am. Clean and returned the jeep and started out for Breck. Stopping for naps, we should make it there by Sunday. ;)

Dude......:( I'll by you a  for that saga.

@TexAZ Persistence: You and your wife have it! Way to stay on point and in the spirit of things. Many of us can sympathize having "been there done that" (And didn't even get a damn t-shirt! :hillbilly:)

good going man - glad to hear you were resourceful enough to get it fixed on your own and get the truck and your persons back safe and sound. what an adventure!

I agree! I would be so screwed and would have to find someone to tow it or go out and fix it. You saved yourself a lot of dough doing it yourself. Envy your skills

@TexAZ, his wife Aubrey and their son Cameron are serious troopers. They all maintained great attitudes in the face of fairly extreme adversity. Saying it was a long day doesn't do justice to what we endured. Pat was out at every obstacle stacking rocks and helping everyone get through the trail, running along with his flashlight well after dark. It was hot as hell, dusty, dirty and just plain grueling. All that and then having to source the parts, rent a keep and do the field repair...

But also it should be noted that @Atwalz and @TonyP went way above and beyond trying to fix Pats truck on the trail. They gave it everything they had. Tools, sweat and blood (literally.) Really, this was probably the most epic wheeling adventure I've been a part of.

I am glad to hear you made it out safe.

just as a side note (the sprinkles on the icing on the top of the cake of my trip)....searched Friday night and Saturday morning to get a replacement tire. The only one I found in stock was a craigslist guy in Brighton. As the valet pulled the truck up, I smelled grease. took a look at the new axle and discovered the wheel well full of bright blue goop. I drove over to the dirt lot we were meeting in and used a small hill to raise the front of the truck. got under and squeezed the inner boot....heard the dreaded pfffft of air and grease slopping out of the boot. It had split.
I started calling around, again, and found an axle in Vail. I drove 45 min to Vail, swapped the axle in the Napa parking lot and headed to Brighton to pick up the tire. Got the tire from a guy selling Nittos out of his garage. didn't ask any questions. Luckily, there was a tire shop a couple blocks away that was closed, but the guys were still there cleaning up. I must have looked ragged and pathetic because the mounted and balanced the tire for free, after hours.

I missed out on Breckenridge, but we successfully drove home 820 miles without incident.

Napa. So does that mean you're back on a non-oem cv?

I was on oem Toyota axle. It got heated and bearings failed over 4th of july weekend. I replaced the joint with one of the original cruiser axles I still have on hand. I suspect, the heat changed the metal just enough that having all the torque go to the one wheel while trying to climb out of the ditch was what caused it to shear.

I am on a Napa remanufactured axle now, as it was the only one available. I will be either buying Toyota boot kits for the axle I have, or replacing the whole thing with OEM, if I determine that the reman is not original Toyota.

Moab was no friend. I'm pretty sure I left my DLSR somewhere on the trail. Good times.

Noooo! Dang, that's likely more expensive than an axle. Sorry to hear that.

So glad to hear that you got home @TexAZ! Your saga made for quite the read (and some cringing while reading). So impressed with your attitude and your skill. But I must admit that my takeaway is to avoid "Difficult" trails. (I lack both your persistence and your skill and my LC needs to last until I die - which on that trail may have happened at the same time!)
