Holy cow!!!! Close to work and I had no clue this was here.

How do you find this stuff? Did you hit the Firehouse or Peggys in Philadelphia??

@wngrog any updates on mid april camping....errr..... Overlanding through Delta trip?

Put it on the books. It will be Friday night at the lake in Delta National Forest. Saturday, hand around bike, play, kayak or canoe the lake.

We will move to another spot the next night or go home. Will see.

The national forest east and south of Natchez has fabulous backroads and waterfalls.

Cross ferry at St Francisville west to east.

@pmccraney has a cool spot out there he showed me

We stayed in this cabin last spring break, which is about an hour from natchez. It's surrounded by national forest with lots of forest roads to explore. Lots of cool creeks, falls and bluffs to explore as well.

The Forest Retreat

There is an old house north of me on Hwy 51 that actually faces old Hwy 51. It is overgrown and I have been wanting to check it out.

I cruised up there after the rain stopped. I have also been wanting to photograph the old bridge at Doakes Creek so I did that too....

The house has some beautiful woodwork. It is a shame to see it falling in. Right after I took this picture an Owl shot out of a window and scared the s*** out of me.

Also buried in the Privet hedge jungle was a concrete silo.....which I would kill to have.....but its concrete and could withstand a nuclear blast. Also, there was an old dairy barn with lots of interesting things laying around. I can't imagine how much treasure is just below the leaves in this spot.

I zig-zagged across southern Holmes County exploring some new gravel roads and then came down my favorite one.....Lemon Road where this awesome Wisteria was

Finally, I ended up in Vaughn. When I was a kid, the Casey Jones Museum was in this old building. It seems to have burned. The museum is in West Mississippi now but the accident occurred in the curve just south of were my FJ-60 is parked...

I had to get on wiki and brush up on my Casey Jones history. Last pic is really cool, especially given the location.

Pearl River WMA....starts off following the marshland of the upper Rez then turns into a beautiful 60-70 year old pine forest. One of the finest stretches of managed pines I've ever seen.

Ends with a dead end.

Side trip across the Trace is cool too

Great shots.

Hit the Pearl River WMA today. Pulled through Turcotte and saw some shooters, entered off HWY 43 and drove a 12 mile route (gravel with some fun side trails)

Do you see him?

Loving this truck.

Looking down on Trace

Wood ducks, herons, gators.... Saw it all but snakes

Bonus round..... Freshly paved Trace just along NW corner of Rez

Good tip Nolan. Killed 2 hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon "sunroof" exploration.
