Thanks. Good to know. we will see how things go. I was thinking about how much it has changed from replacing ECUs to the slow process of "flashing" them back in the day when I worked at the dealer, and now so much more can be changed. It would be nice to adjust a few more functions on my 01. I would particularly like to change it so that all the doors unlock with one press of the remote button. I guess I need to master the force.

The "all doors unlock on one press of the remote unlock button" is a very convenient setting, much better than having to double tap the remote when everyone is trying to pile in the vehicle in the rain or whatever. This is doable with V7 TechStream on '03s.

On my 06 Techstream gives an option to hold the remote button for all windows up or all windows down Woooo

IIRC that's an option for 03s too, I had to disable all the auto unlock/windows down/sun roof open functions when we also had an SC430 - spouse had a habit of mashing my LX key unlock and screaming at her SC for not unlocking. More than once I found my vehicle in various states of unlockiness and openness whilst she claimed her stupid key fob didn't work! Easier to reprogram my vehicle than her!

I have the same situation, I get blank boxes on the customization screen. I bought the techstream v8 but it looks like it installed v9. I have full diagnostic functionality, but like the previous poster, no options for customization. SDNative, you mentioned the new software may only be diagnostic, that may be my issue. Otherwise perhaps since I have a '99 LC there are no options to be had. Does anyone with an older LC had any luck with these modifications? Is there a place to download an older version of the software?

I connected Techstream to a 98 LC today and there were no customization options.

I am starting to think that the older the model, the less options are available, and that the limit of options is not related to the version(someone else probably pointed this out already). On my 01 LX there are functions listed in several of the ECU menus, but no options under those functions except to turn off tele/tilt IIRC. There are more visible ECU's as well. I also noted that there are more utility options on the immobiliser on the newer model.

I am pretty sure that I was prompted and forced to update to a 9.0 version when I ran Techstream for the first time. It stated something to the affect, that as of 4/2014 all Techstreams programs had to be updated to V9, or something like that. Still my program says V8 at the top of the screen when its open. I'm not real tech savy so forgive me if I dont understand it all, but I am trying to help and figure it out at the same time.
Hopefully future versions will add functionality and options to visible customization funtion options. I am skeptical though that options will be added to funtions that do not show up because I think that the vehicle may not be capable of customizing them.

None unless you have later model Toyotas in your stable, version 7 covers 2008 and earlier Toyotas/Lexus. New version releases just fold in the last 2 MYs, they don't add any retrospective capability enhancements to the older MYs.

Can someone who has a 2002 LC post some of the things you can do with this?

I installed the TIS Software and tried to get the driver to work, but it keeps giving an error, I'm using a windows 8 computer any recommendations appreciated...

I download Toyota TIS techstream V10.30.029 from MINI VCI FOR TOYOTA TIS Techstream free download - ChinaAutoDiag.com, and I tested working fine with my Xhorse MINI VCI USB cable which got from uobd2.net and used it for 4-5 times, it working fine for almost 1 year. The supplier claimed techstream V10.30.029 is verified working fine with also Xhorse MVCI and Mangose cable for Toyota, etc.

Techstream V10.30.029 installation is a little different from the former version, the techstream V10.30.029 download link contains a txt document with the key to register.
Techstream V10.30.029 simple installation steps:
1) Install TOYOTA TIS Techstream V10.30.029
2) Install MCVI driver
3) Copy "Mainmenu" application, right click the gray icon "Techstream", click "Properties" - "Find Target", then paste the "Mainmenu" application to replace the existing file.

4) Connect the device to the vehicle and then install driver!

5) Open the icon "Techstream" on the desktop, please note you shoule select area "Europe"

6) When you click "Connect to Vehicle", it pops up a window about "Register Techstream Software) and it asks for a new key, click "Cancle". Go to open the folder "Toyota techstream 10.30.029", open text document "Serie" and copy the key number in it, and paste it into the blank key after "New key" and click ok, register successfully.

7) Diagnose Toyota vehicles.

Done!
Hope it helps!

I ordered a cable form China that shows its a drew tech mongoose VCI - for $39 bucks- surely a knockoff . It's running Xhorse.

Problem I'm having is that my AVG antivirus software is not happy with the MVCI Driver firmware MVCI32.dll or the MVCI Driver update tool to contain a Trojan Horse Generic10_c.CKYM, Generic10_c.COUB

Wondering how to handle this or if anyone has encountered the same issue? Included mini cd had Tecstream V9.10.038. Should I look to download a different MVCI driver?

Thanks

try that for a driver if you want. It's legit, windows 32b install. I have it on two laptops, works fine.

I use techstream 7.11 if you need help I can try.
