Oh, I got two before shots.

Hey, that's how I work! 2 beers and I'm done. At least you got the shock off.

Didn't see you got the steering box, too. That's pretty good.

Ya it went really fast, but that's the case for me. It's when I put it all back together that's a different story. Ill do something out of order and have to retrace my steps. Also ill have bolts left over, which is good cuz ill save weight that way.

I made my cartoon box cuz the real one wants to smash my face or hands.

Got the box mocked up in a good spot. I need to add on to the frame for the top bolt. Gunna visit landcrsrman(Pat) for the steel I think. I also found a ps pump bracket the bolts to the driver side head which will give me the room I need. The bracket for the passenger alternator mount is going to be tough with the
A/C there. Might hafta inganeer sumtin. I'll have pics tomorrow, I have to grind the rest of the old motor mount off first.

It's been two weeks since I drove my baby so I was watching vids from a few months ago.

Finally got a few minutes to waste on the doomer. I was on a roll and had everything tacked, but after getting half a stud welded I ran out of wire WTF.

Megadoomer,

That's always the way. Get going good and run out of wire, gas and the shop is 45 min. away. Closed til Monday!

Fabrication looks good. 1/2 inch bolts?

The box is treaded for 3/8 coarse bolts. The dom on the plate are going to act like perches because the box is rounded and needs to be set off the frame a bit. 3/4 inch to be exact. The ID of that DOM is 5/8 or 11/16 which will fit the other tube I have that will go all the way thru the frame that fits the the 3/8 bolts snug. Since the box doesn't sit flush I wanted some more girth for the perches. In the photo you can see on the top hole the sleeve is in its place to show my madness. If work doesnt suck tomorrow ill get more wire and drill the holes in the frame, eeeek!

Looking for tips. I got the piece ready to weld on the frame. Is there a treatment i should put on the inside of the steel before I weld on?

I have the mount for my box mostly welded on. I took a break and decided to tackle the moving of the alternator to the pass side. I found a good spot and fab'd a braket. Dont laugh, I used a cutting wheel, mapp gas and some brawn.

Ok the photos came out in a weird order.

Not sure about the coating? Maybe a weld-through primer?

Also, not laughing at all on your alternator bracket, nice work!

Thanx Pablo.
I decided to add a little strength to the alt bracket and relocated the wiring from the driver side. I also finished the final resting place for the steering box. The box is in temporary in this photo so I can look at steering column ideas. Im about 75% done with the ps pump bracket too (photos soon).

Falling, falling further down the rabbit hole. The pump and alt are in and brackets came out good. Need a new pulley for the pump no biggie. Got a high pressure hose for 16 bucks that will work with minor tinkering. Located a samurai steering ujoint for 14 bucks that will make my column almost complete. Thats all the good/goodish. My issuses are as follows:

I got gm TREs and found bungs for a decent amount on sleezbay that will fit 1.5x.25 DOM. Problem is I need new knuckle arms. I have sua for now but was thinking of getting a hi-steer just in case from either 4x4labs or IPOR. Luke is 300 and ipor is half that. Ipor as far as I know is reamed for fj80 tre and luke will do the gm. Im kind of commited to gm now that ive bought s*** I cant return.

Secondly, but on the same line of crap. I apparently have small pattern hubs and been reading that hi-steer likes to break those. I dont know how less than 1 cm makes a big diff but whatever. So do I want to get 60 hubs? Do I cancel the hi-steer cuz I dont see changing in the near future?

Honestly I just want to drive this thing again. I feel depressed seeing it in its three legged from. I definitely need knuckle arms but $300 hits hard when I dont think ive even spent that in total yet. Is there another player in the game?

So I took 1 step into the large pattern knuckles and found them off of a 60. Then found out I need the brakes also because the man-a-fre disc kit won't bolt on. I also would need the locking hubs which means I need the birfs too. Basically need a whole mini/60 axle so I said f*** it. I found a guy selling the 4x4labs frombe kit for small pattern with the 5th bolt and I'm going for it. One day when the timing is right I'll build a sweet front end, but for now I need to drive this beast. I don't think I will break this setup.

I'm still waiting for my steering arms but I got my high pressure hose and return fab'd and put in and belts on. I also need the steering column rod and support heim put in that just came from summit as I started writing this. So I got to start the beast up for the first time in 6 months and got to hear (or not hear) the new header gaskets I put on. Good afternoon all in all. Just need my arms.

I ordered those parts yesterday from summit and went with the free ground and got them today. I've paid a lot of money to two day crap to me. Wtf.

I finally got my steering makeover done! I had some lucrative side jobs and was able to string a few days together to finish her off. It needs a few adjustments, it turns a little more right than left, and the brakes need bleeding...again. I have to find or fab a bracket for the stabilizer. I haven't driven it fast enough to see if I even has a death wobble. I also put a new starter, battery, oil and filter. I'm very excited to get around town again in my baby.

If I didn't already have a name for my pig, I'd call it Black Widow, because I must have killed or chased off 30 of those effers while putting all the parts back on. They made quite a nest for the year it sat in my driveway.

Anyway, happy pigging! Hope the sty is doing well.

Glad to hear you're working on it again. I've got to cut and relocate my steering stab. bracket, also.

Black Widows! man, we've got the Brown Recluse real bad here. I've only run into maybe a half dozen Widows, good luck with that one.

What is the best part to bolt the stabilizer to? The Tie rod or the drag link? My engineering mind says the furthest moving part from the steering box would be most affective, but I am probably looking too deep into it. I think connecting to the drag link right off the pitman arm is going to be the easiest.

I have fj60 axles, so one end bolts to the long relay rod. The other end bolts to the 55 mount on the frame cross member, problem for me the distance is too short for stabilizer, so I'll cut off cross member bracket and move 3 inches.
