The plate is closing sharply with a nice clack onto the stop. If the tabs from the TB plate fit into the slots on the TPS, it would return it to closed. Seems like quite a few have tried to install it that way then seeked help based on my searches. I would have done the same thing if I hadn't searched it first. Seems logical they would fit like that.

wow, that would be a bummer, I suppose...

If you need any interior parts PM me, I am parting out a 88 with tan interior in Fresno. My plan is to take the 3FE and put it in my 85 crawler.

I don't see the test feedback on the TPS, other than the initial...did you condemn it based upon the first test, and spring? Might be worth putting it back on the TB and running the other tests...making adjustments to set baselines, then doing the initial test again. I've seen more than a few threads where someone found or guessed that the TPS was bad and replaced it with a new one only to have further issues with the new one because it still needs to be adjusted to spec... Just making sure I convey my reasons for questioning so you understand why. I think there is a lot of initial misconceptions for newbies when it comes to the new sensors and what they are doing, when moving from carburetors to EFI, and that a lot of these TPSs get falsely blamed without full investigation. HTH

If the TPS isn't going to hug the throttle plate linkage during movement, it's no longer a TPS and all other checks can stop. A good one will snap back to closed when you turn it by hand.
I might have given you the wrong impression about my newbness...this is my first 3FE, not the first FI vehicle I've wrenched on:) My fault not yours.

Happy Turkey day!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll send a PM.

I need some help with this EGR vacuum routing please. It's a little different from the 2F operation.
1)This one, 'Q' is routed through the VSV and the VSV plumbs to the air cleaner?
2) 'R' and 'P' on modulator hook up at throttle body ports 'R' and 'E' with one of them teeing into the BVSV...which one routes into the BVSV and does that then go to 'R' or 'E' on the Throttle Body?
I'm using the '1988 New Features FSM'.

We have been there: delaying the scary compression test, find your local group for support, make it trough, tell them no lies.
Because next you will be cleaning the ashtray with a toothbrush and it ends with a search for cupholders.

It was about 70 degrees here today so pushed it back into the driveway and scrubbed the engine bay. First parts order will go out Monday, vacuum tubing should be here tomorrow, hoping for a startup by next Saturday.

I'm sure you will get that engine running. Are you going to drop the pan on the transmission and put a new filter and fluid? Maybe check for burnt clutch material?
First 62 I’ve heard of w/ a clutch? ;)

Ah. Someone once said the work of secret elves hidden away inside it.
And this is why I’m following this thread. I’m quite clueless on the 62’s but definitely curious esp since this guy is so amazingly meticulous.

Wow. Much improved. Your time spent testing and cleaning now will pay off later.

Looks like a battery blew up and no one bothered to clean up the mess? Too bad.
Agreed. It's a mess in that corner.

That's on the agenda for this week. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm confident it will run too.
