Looks sick. Are these pics in neutral or high AHC?
amateur question. Any time you take a picture of an LX, it needs to be in high mode!

@tbisaacs are you upgrading the brakes?

Previous owner put wilwood in the front and back, debating whether to keep it going (front is due for rotors/pads) or swap back to stock (unless there's an in between choice?)
cost wise: $250 for front pads/rotors OEM vs. $1280 for wilwood...
my rig is about 6400lbs.

I’m happy so far TBH. My old LX is 7300 pounds so my 2021 feels like a dang sports car in comparison.

After waiting almost 8 weeks for my Land Cruiser rocker panels, they finally shipped so I put in an order for a new set of Slee
Offroad LX sliders.

My 2008 has the original design sliders and boy, these are a big improvement in terms of ease of installation—specifically being able to hang the main brackets temporarily on the frame during install.

I love em but I knew I would. This is the extent of the armor I’m planning for the build.

E&E skids and any sliders are a great combo.

This week I did 2400 pavement miles and about 150 off-road miles in Joshua Tree / Johnson Valley and have a new found appreciation for a mostly stock / OEM+ style build. In this environment, being "lighter" was so much better than armored up. I also really appreciated getting close to factory hwy EPA rating at 15.5-16 mpg as indicated. So yea, as usual @TeCKis300 is right.
  • The Perry parts bump stops might be my favorite mod ever.
  • On the fast desert whoops, the suspension was so plush. It only strengthened my desire for AHC long travel.
  • I didn't really feel limited by the chin, like at all. Big tires and a great front camera ensured the shiny parts stayed shiny
  • I did miss the rear drawers but did't miss hearing stuff rattle around
  • The transfer case and CDL are lightning fast compared to my old rig
Anyways—I'm content. I thought I'd miss my 2008 more than I do now, but this is a new chapter and new philosophy.

For gear, I opted to strap down a Pelican case that fits perfectly between the stowed seats. Not pictured behind it was a strapped down Pro-Eagle jack:

Still thirsty but considerably less so:

Yes OEM+ is the sweet spot. A few scratches on the bumper just serve as a reminder of fun times.
I do think sliders/skids/33-34s/small lift is the middle area of the venn diagram. Also living in so cal and having these public lands available to us is fricking awesome.

Great pics! Getting to wheel stuff like that all the time living in SoCal was a treat. One of the things I miss now that I'm living in CO.

Sure don't miss those gas prices though..

Try living in Houston where even Big Bend is 10+ hours away.
