Hope the experience owning a newer Benz is going to work out for you

Having a dependable 200 in the driveway makes dumb car choices possible :)

I love the idea of owning an MB and enjoying the driving experience. It's the ownership part that gives me pause given all the anecdotes and stories that come along with it.

The market on my LC500 got so hot that I couldn't resist flipping it for cash. So picked up my LX's brother from another mother—sorta. Both are black, all wheel drive, ~112" wheel base and 197" long. View attachment 4168623

2015 S63 coupe, 31k miles, breaths fire and will happily cruise at a governed 186mph while giving you a massage.

But seriously, these things are basically the same size.

You are killing it with the car line up! Love that S63 so much and curious your thoughts on it after having the LC500, beyond the power difference of course. Having the reliable LX when my Audi S4 is inevitably having some sort of issue, is essential.

The LC is a future classic. I absolutely loved it but decided I'm not a collector or hoarder so decided to follow the market and scratch another itch. I drove it for 2 years and only put gas in it and change the tires and flipped it for $12k profit.

The NA V8 was a masterpiece. Feels immediate and aggressive—that plus RWD and LSD made it surprisingly rowdy if you wanted it. The exterior feels futuristic and will continue to for a long time. The interior was beautiful and understated but felt more sporty GT than Luxury GT. It didn't blend in, every time I drove it people pointed and got their phones out.

Only a few gripes:
  • Trunk and backseat space are kind of a joke. It's really a two seater and dont count on getting more than one bag in the trunk
  • Tech was pretty terrible, mine was a 2020 so had the trackpad which was forgivable, but the 320p backup camera and no front camera was pretty hard to live with given the nose was so long.
  • It's fast enough, but was more of an experience car than a performance car

The S63 is more of a true GT IMO. The power is unbelievable, and so are the 390mm front 6 piston brakes. In sport mode, the S63 doesn't give much up to the LC in terms of atheticism. It's kind of unnerving to be in such a substantial car and corning flat at triple digits.

The materials, fit and finish, everything is just better even for a 2015. No big pillar and glass roof make for a targa-like experience without the complexity.

My only gripe with the S63 is I wish it had a more aggressive exhaust note from factory. But Im going to fix that with a resonator delete and Renntech exhaust controller.

Well, almost. I'm excited to show you my 2021, 34k mile LX570 that I've dubbed 🏴 Obsidian:

About a month ago, I started thinking about moving on from the 2008 LX that I basically made my whole personality for the last 10 years in favor of something cleaner, newer, and more stock. Then about three weeks ago, I started looking seriously. Because I've done this once already, I knew exactly what I was looking for:

  • Despite basically no mechanical differences, I wanted a final year 2021
  • Southern truck, I looked in SoCal, Arizona, and Texas
  • Black exterior, any interior other than parchment
  • 3-row
I originally found a great example at Sewell in Dallas, L-certified with 50k miles and almost signed on the dotted line when I realized it was a two row so I doomed scrolled for a few days. Then I found this, a super low mile, 1 owner trade in Conroe Texas. This truck was bought in Oklahoma City, then moved to Houston and was serviced at Northside Lexas.

I dispatched my homie @radman and he went out of his way to look at it the next day, gave it a colonoscopy and then a thumb's up. The truck is extremely clean other than some automatic carwash swirl marks and it had original Dunlops that were at 4/32" of tread. I put in a cash offer, hopped on a plane to IAH, had BBQ with Amir, and then started the 30+ hour drive northwest.

Houston to Seattle is a helluva drive but this was the ultimate way to do it.

Coming from a non-luxury package, early 2008, I cannot understate how big of an upgrade the 2016+ trucks are. Everything is nicer, quieter, and more refined. And stock, I averaged 18-19 mpg the whole way back.
I have the same color 2020, same interior too! His name is Fancy because he's a fancy Landcruiser 😆
