Bold. anything below 20psi and I am s... my pants. Those being E-rated I would maybe just piss... 😅

Oh really? I don’t starting getting nervous until about 12 psi

That was our main selling point of living here. Cheap gas, so we can get the hell out of here whenever we want. :frown:

Don’t forget we get cheap beef too!
Gas prices are inversely proportional to access to public lands, mild climate and mountains 🤷‍♂️

Still can’t believe it

This week I did 2400 pavement miles and about 150 off-road miles in Joshua Tree / Johnson Valley and have a new found appreciation for a mostly stock / OEM+ style build. In this environment, being "lighter" was so much better than armored up. I also really appreciated getting close to factory hwy EPA rating at 15.5-16 mpg as indicated. So yea, as usual @TeCKis300 is right.
  • The Perry parts bump stops might be my favorite mod ever.
  • On the fast desert whoops, the suspension was so plush. It only strengthened my desire for AHC long travel.
  • I didn't really feel limited by the chin, like at all. Big tires and a great front camera ensured the shiny parts stayed shiny
  • I did miss the rear drawers but did't miss hearing stuff rattle around
  • The transfer case and CDL are lightning fast compared to my old rig
Anyways—I'm content. I thought I'd miss my 2008 more than I do now, but this is a new chapter and new philosophy.

For gear, I opted to strap down a Pelican case that fits perfectly between the stowed seats. Not pictured behind it was a strapped down Pro-Eagle jack:

I was curious as to your thoughts to a compare and contrast. Appreciate your candid inputs and it's always good to have first hand experience. As much as I might try to analyze things, theory is only one side of it. How the rubber meats the road (dirt) is where it matters.

You're in for a treat with long travel AHC.

Appreciate you sharing!

16 PSI is where my rig was at its best for mixed offroad. 18 PSI when laden with camping gear. No problem going lower too and I'll go to 13 PSI when in the sand, particularly when its hot and dry. I give a lot of credit to AHC for what feels like endless plush travel - something the tires appreciate too as it equally dampens peak forces acting on the tire tread.

For real. I’m in a totally stock ‘20 on Defender LTXs and get 16 on the interstate. Starting to wonder if it’s time to do plugs, PCV valve, etc.

I hate how much I’ve grown to love this model year LX. You’re crushing this new build man, such a great

I believe that the 2016+ is totally slept on. It’s better basically in every way except approach angle 👃

And even so, the grill has seriously grown on me.

After waiting almost 8 weeks for my Land Cruiser rocker panels, they finally shipped so I put in an order for a new set of Slee
Offroad LX sliders.

My 2008 has the original design sliders and boy, these are a big improvement in terms of ease of installation—specifically being able to hang the main brackets temporarily on the frame during install.

I love em but I knew I would. This is the extent of the armor I’m planning for the build.

Beautiful, I love it!! I’m rocking your almost twin: black 2016 LX570. I’m on 285-75/r17 Duratracs and gray Icon Vector 5’s with Slee sliders and the new LC rockers. My rockers took 4 weeks….wrong part sent, rush order for the correct ones and then another 2 weeks, maybe? So 6-ish weeks all in. Totally worth it though. It’s the right way to do it.

Mine has a small sensor lift now. I need the extra clearance for work, so I’m planning on going ARB front bumper and Dissent rear with an LRA tank because I drive a lot. I’m all about the OEM+ build philosophy, but I’m making this my one Toyota 4x4 (selling my medium built 2005 4Runner V8 and my fully built 1976 FJ40). Eeek, I can feel myself lying…to myself. But that’s the plan.

Totally agree on the 2016+ LX as being slept on. We bought this one a couple of years ago for my wife after we got tired of waiting for our new GX550. The LX600 was even more difficult to obtain and $$$$$.

We picked the LX up from Northside Lexus with 85k on it, serviced every 5k at Northside or Westside here in Houston for $44k. I mean, come on. There’s simply not more vehicle on the market for that money. Anyway, now I’ve taken it over as my daily because the wife wanted a new vehicle with modern tech.

boy, did I go deep! I pulled all the engine plastics, door sills, and dug all the gold out from under the front seat voids. She's a beaute, clark!
Hey! You’ll remember me from my 2016 built 4Runner and we always ran in to each other at Escalantes, lol. If you’ve seen a mustard yellow FJ40, or a white 2005 4Runner on 33’s, sliders and a swing out rear bumper, that’s me. Now look for a 2016 black LX on 34’s and 17’s!

Try living in Houston where even Big Bend is 10+ hours away.
Hey there fellow Houstonian. If you see my LX described above, flag me down! I’ll talk cars and Cruisers all day and love meeting fellow cruiser people.

They come painted in one of the Land Cruiser black colors. Close enough for me.

Body Rocker Panel Molding Assembly Right Hand
Part Number: 75850-60040-C0

Body Rocker Panel Molding Assembly Left Hand
Part Number: 75860-60040-C0

The last two digits are color code.
Did you do LC mud flaps also?

Man I can't decide what color to pick from the LC options.
My truck is nightfall mica..

Safest might be just the basic black (C0). Also the cheapest.

Metallic black is +$70. I am afraid the Blue onxy won't match well..

I didn’t do the mudflaps, just the rockers. Hard to tell from photos but blue onyx might be close enough. The rockers are below the belt line of the doors and in the shadow line.

Edit: @Sajan (sorry I forgot the quote)

The black rocker trim and the black sliders will probably visually blend together. Especially as you have the front and rear bumpers. Looks great by the way!

You’re welcome to view mine in person if you’d like. The black for the LX and the LC are the closest match apparently, but it’s not totally perfect.

Ya with black it can be an intentional "mismatch" or two-tone situation like with the bumper.
I didn't realize there were two blacks for the LC.
C0 and C1.
C1 is midnight which is metallic. That price diff though...

For $10 you can just cut to fit using something sharp and put some of that black door trim people use on their door edges

The trimmed ones look ...blah. even this example on Slee's website.

Might look better trimmed straight rather than trying to retain the back with that drop down. Though I’m sure there was a good reason to cut it that way. Is it worth $500? Wasn’t to me, but I have a different year, different sliders, and dents and pinstripes everywhere.
