Thanks for the info! What's the diff ratio? I assume high range in the transfer is 1:1?

Is the auto in these electronically controlled?

Instead of hijacking Chris's thread, it would be more germane to start your own thread to have questions answered.

That's generally the protocol here.

What does the "S" before the model indicate?
On second thought, what does the full model number and trim number tell us?

K082 = 9.5", 4.11 gears, 2 spider, I believe semi-float
045 = White paint
Trim: FQ41 in interior trim, Brown

This is from the 40 series that I found, I assume it's fairly similar to 70 series.

First 2 letters Fabric type, next 2 color: 41 = Olive brown, light brown, or oak. With fabric I believe that denotes it as an LX.

As far as the model number, without the full frame number hard to tell everything other than the obvious, BJ73 manual transmission, Hard Top,

BJ73V-MR = standard grade
BJ73V-MN = LX grade

Not sure what the S means before model number. I've seen S, P, yet mine doesn't have a letter before it ie: BJ74-MNXQ

As far as the "S" goes, it's safe to say you can rule out it standing for "speedy". :)

It is an LX. The faded red placard is on the rear. Brown and tan interior, FRP top. I chatted with Beno, he may chime in about other details.

Hugh, thanks so much for sharing your adventures, mishaps and pics along the way, being a BJ73 owner, I really enjoyed this, too bad I didn't see this earlier and could have also met with you guys when in Austin... BTW my first 100 series was a 2000 Desert Bronze...where did yours come from, I always wondered what happened to mine/where it ended up when I sold it 10+ years ago.

I got my 100 from @phrogg4evr on here who bought it from @davegonz who bought it from a little old lady that used it to get groceries. Small world right?

[edit]

Oh, and what did you buy?

Split case rebuild kit. Figured since I have to tear it nearly completely apart to replace the main gasket I mau as well do them all and the bearings.

May as well make it harder for thw victims' daughters to track me down, right?

You could have mixed the 90W with flour and used it to lay hasher trail . . . :hhmm:

I had a little time to get into it this afternoon. Seems someone may have spilled something on the carpet in the back or else the glue between the insulation and the carpet has turned to an oily mess. The insulation is saturated and need to be replaces with something.

The excess 90 weight that was splashed about on the trip home is running off the truck. If it was summer it would be self cleansing.
This weekend we have house guests so I will have to ignore it once again.

The plastic behind the rearview mirror is disintegrating. I need to find some sort of product to save it. Ideas?
I did some stuff to save some 40 series mirrors but there was less flaking on those.

They seem to be available online for about $100 part# 87810-90K02

I think some of that oily mess came from something whatshisname spilled/carried back there. It had saturated that Viair compressor kit bag I had in there too. What a freaking mess.

That certainly crossed my mine. There is a little on the passenger side floor board too. I am going to order some new insulation from Summit. I think it will be good.
In the meantime I bought a set of floor mats on clearance via Woot.
And this happened:

I am quite please with the fitment. I stop drilled and trimmed the battery tray bracket on the other side ala-Dan style.

I need to yell @beno regarding new hood insulation and clips. The old stuff is really brittle and coming apart.

We had house guests all weekend so nothing else happened to him. I am dying to have a full relatively warm weekend to redo the tcase. It was 6°F here this morning.

I did manage to trade my old broken down pos John Deere mower for a lightly used PT809.

Don’t get it from me Chris.

Shipping a hood insulator will be twice the cost of the part.

Buy locally.

I figured that would be the case. I have not tried to deal with our Toyota dealer yet here for anything. I figure if I drive in there with the BJ maybe I will get some attention. Or asked to leave.
What is the PN for the push in "clips"? 9046709014?
