We made it to Shreveport, LA. Transfercase starting leaking again. Why? s*** luck I guess. It does not seem as bad. Lost only a little less than a pint between Austin and Henderson, TX.
...

Well, I have rear and front output seals for the transfercase, plus fresh drive flange nuts.

PS Stop being such a wimp. I have made the round trip between Ft Worth to Atl in my 40 and later in my 70; the pavement isn't bad enough to complain about. :moon:

I will fiddle with the seat a bit.
Lost just a bit less than a pint in the last 80 or so miles which means it seems to be getting worse. We are back at the check it every 100 mile plan. For now it is beer time at Flying Heart Brewing.
I am so embarrased Larry just called me a wussy.

Now Chris, what would cause you to make such an obvious misquoting error??

My suggestion was for you to stop being a wimp (not strong enough for a drive on a real road). However, you read 'wussy'. And doesn't wussy apply in cases of failed manhood?

Is there a Freudian slip at the heart of your error? :deadhorse:
You are among friends ... we will not look ill upon you; regardless what you have to confess. But we will laugh our arses off at your expense. :D

Damn . . . and here I figured you were getting the standard undercoating/rustproofing treatment.

I see that at least the leatherwrap that I installed on the steering wheel is still holding up nicely! That's gotta count for something!

So did I!

80 miles outside of Shreveport. Guess it's a good place to check the fluid level.
On a positive note, we are gettin 18.5 mpg.

Level was not too bad but it appears it is surging out from around the speedo gear. I bet the orings are shot. The gear housing is loose.

Next stop Jackson Mississippi for another check.

Made it to Tuscaloosa.
I palpated the speedo output housing and it must have reset it a bit. The last 160 miles we lost about a cup. I am convinced it it eh oring. When we filled last time I could see it running out of there.

Almost forgot, got 19.5 mpg! Running mostly at 68mph.

Yay diesel!
Yay Tuscaloosa!
Yay dirteh martinis!

I second the wussy comment :). I drove my 75 ute 4200mi.
BTW the comment was not about comfort but more a concern or anxiety about something else on the truck that has been sitting for like 7 years getting damaged. I have driven 40s on 35s all over with no complaints, but the roads around Shreveport could tear up any vehicle. A tire and suspension shop in Shreveport could make a bundle. Most of the roads after Shreveport and through Mississississippippi and Bama have been decent.

We made it to Georgia! Put about a half quart in after about 150 miles. We will get this beast on the lift at Larrys tomorrow and see if we can properly ID the bleeder.
Meanwhile....

Have you checked the gearbox oil level? .

You an often get them to stay there by pushing down on the recline button, then grab the back of the seat and move it a little.

Thats wrong, I think I pull the lever up as the spring gets old and doesnt let the pawl lock on to the teeth.
