The hardest thing for a LandCruiser--hell, ANY vehicle--is to sit and suffer the abuse of disuse. I've hated that the BJ73, the BJ74, and the BJ75 have suffered through this. To a degree, the KZJ70 had been driven and (sorta) kept up, as was the 105. Not as much as I'd have liked but, MrsDD isn't really a Cruiserhead but is proud to be married to a Cruiserhead. :steer:

Low KMs. Just 140K. No noises. Shifts really well.

I ran into a guy named Joe driving a pretty nice all stock 62 here in Austin. He recommended I call @green grass hopper who is Edwin at LC Specialists nearby. I am going to call him in the AM. As much as I looked forward to doing this myself in Larrys garage fixing it before the 1000 mile drive is a good idea. We will see if he can fit me in or rent me a spot in the parking lot and the tools I need. (I have everything in a tool bag....in my 100 in GA.)

Here is the 62 the guy was driving:

I probably should have put out the bat signal on Sunday when I got here as Beno mentioned.

So we made it to Waco!
I emailed with @green grass hopper and he got back to me directly and we discussed staying in Austin another day so he could fit me in as he was out of town. But good things happened thanks to my long standing participation with Mud.
See, I bought a 100 from @phrogg4evr . He bought it from @davegonz and that has given us a bit of a connection.
So I PMed Dave and although out of town, he activated the bat signal and @bottombracket and @Sea Knight answered the call.
Bottombracket let me in Daves garage and helped me install the seal I found at Napa.

Only one casualty - sorry Dave, I owe you one broken flat tip.

We made it to Waco and the repair seems to be holding just fine. When I got to the flange nut I discovered it was only finger tight. I think that may have exacerbated the issue.

Then on the way up on I35 we lost a wiper. Fortunately it stayed on the cowl!

We are now touristing.

GoodCruiserVibes! To close the MudCruiserCircleOfKarma even more, I've been to DaveGonz's place and purchased an old military pioneer trailer from him years ago. Good peeps, peeps! :wrench: :steer:

Great to meet you both today! I’m glad the fix was simple and you got back on the road quickly.

Thanks for the tacos!

See y’all on the trails soon and travel safely.

How many miles left?

Always fun in a new cruiser. I drove my troopy from Paraburdoo to Perth overnight, about 1300kls

We made it to Shreveport, LA. Transfercase starting leaking again. Why? s*** luck I guess. It does not seem as bad. Lost only a little less than a pint between Austin and Henderson, TX.

When I was checking it a nice cat named Chat driving a VW Vanagan with a Subaru engine stopped to chat. He was digging it.

So we just went the last 80 to Shreveport and I am going out to check.it again and pump some more into it.

Tomorrow is all interstate and a long day to Tuscaloosa. If it gets no worse we will easily make it to Marietta, GA and put it on Larry's lift and pull the skid plate to see if we are losing fluid from anywhere other than the rear seal. Then maybe do the seal again if he has an OME one in his supply cabinet.
Truck is driving fine other than that.

Last night Waco was hit by a pretty good rain storm and we awoke to find the drivers side floor mat full of water. Also, I put the drivers seatback forward and now it won't catch in the first few places so my driving position has become, shall we call it, relaxed? :hmm:
I even let :princess: drive. And yes, that is my finger. :meh:

The roads in LA have so far been a bit uncomfortable on the short wheelbase and Ironman Springs. I hope they have som new pavement on I20 somewhere between here and Alabama.

Dangit. I guess a pint is better than a couple of quarts...

I was all impressed by that Napa seal actually fitting.

Ive had a few do that. You an often get them to stay there by pushing down on the recline button, then grab the back of the seat and move it a little.
