... and I thank the gubment for my economic stimulus check.

I'm not sure George would be happy if you spent your stimuli $$ in Mexico. Buy some American made cruiser parts or maybe some tequila :D

well plans changed for that too. Molly and I have a road trip coming up. Last summer I promised her a beach and this summer I have to deliver. We are either going to California or Puerto Penasco. It will be a fun trip and I thank the gubment for my economic stimulus check.

It's been awhile since I've been to Puerto Peñasco, but having lived in southern CA for a decade and a half I think PP would be much nicer if you're looking for "beach" as in swimming etc. The water is much warmer - in CA it's always kind of cold...

I bet you George loves my plan beacuse I am putting gas into a five ton brick. Most of my stimulus will be spent getting there and back! We hope to camp a little and visit family in Tucson.

Most my hide. ALL OF IT! I went to Palm Springs a few weekends ago in the CAMRY and my fuel was $170 round trip. And I didn't spend a cent on fuel IN California.

Quick math figuring out how much will be spent while in the US

600 miles to Lukeville, AZ (Not counting the 70 miles to PP)
15 MPG in a 5,000 lbs brick on wheels
40 Gallons of gas @ $3.50/gallon (better leave soon) = $140
X2 so you can get home = ~$300. Then add in another ~$300 spending money and hanging out in Tucson. You've still got $600 left to pump into the Mexican tourist industry. At least you've spent a big chunk of it in the US.

I realize this might bother you, considering we are all loyal Americans and all ... but gas will be about a dollar less in Mexico. So, make sure you full up in Lukeville before you cross to spend as much of George's money here before crossing south.

Or, not, and time it right so you cross on fumes.

and don't forget, unless you are spending your money on locally made crafts, or for services by local proprietors, most of the places the money will be spent are large multi-national corporations, with most of their products made outside of the US.

AJ (Bonfire), glad to see you made it here! with AJ in the club, we will have 3 different fire depts represented in the club. Bernalillo County, Rio Rancho, and now AFD!

he told me he found his new 80 (w/ factory lockers) here in Abq! did this one hit our 'for sale' page or is someone slacking?:flipoff2:

Welcome bud!
Shawn

Thank you for the newbie salute.

80 story:
I had just had my shoulder surgery and found a 80 in the "Best Wheels" Went to see it and it was overpriced, no lockers and tan (barf) interior. But they had a second one aquired from a local dealer that morning. Interior grey and lockers!!!!! The wholesaler had not even detailed yet! I jumped on it. So I don't think anyone was slacking, it wasn't even on the front of the lot yet! it did have some super ghetto wheels and undersized tires on it. luckily they switched em with stockers on the other overpriced unlocked 80. Took some off the price of mine too!
Hoo ray for me!:bounce::bounce2::bounce:

Time to bring this thread active again. We will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday (May 17) at our house in the Tijeras area. Jon has updated directions on the HDC website. It's a little different getting there than normal, since we have construction on I-40. I think the easiest way to get to our house is to bring people on I-40 to the Zuzax exit. However, with the road construction, the Zuzax exit is closed. So the directions will take you off I-40 at Tijeras and then parallel the freeway on old Hoghway 66 until you get to the Zuzax overpass. Everything is the same from there.

We will be serving Ellen's famous sloppy joes. We will also have a grill available if anyone wants to bring their own meat to grill. For you newbies, please bring a dish to share and your own drinks.

A headcount would be useful, so we know how much food to plan. Who's going to make it out? Hope to see you on Saturday!

Evan
