i ordered mine from Luke- way back a long time ago....he said I was the first shipment he had delivered. I figured you'd have to pay on his website and wait for it... he was talking to some folks a few years ago here in the states, but i dont think he ever finished that project.

but the drawers are great quality, the ABS slides are absolutely silent.
And last time I talked to the distributor in Canada, they were many months out for delivery.

Alternate perspective on the Landshark Reef:

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Landshark, and would recommend the Reef drawers to anyone who doesn't have the tooling or skill to build quality cases, as well as people who aren't ready to spend on the ready-to-install options.

Mine have the hdpe slides under the drawers, so may be a bit newer design than the version @Itsky has?

Everything fit right, nothing was out of spec. Assembly was pretty straightforward and the instructions were well documented. I've used them on both a '13 and a '16 land crusier.

Keep in mind they are a "customize it yourself" option, so need some finish work. I added automotive carpet to the top and automotive vinyl to the vertical surfaces.

I'd really want the Trekboxx drawers, but can't justify the all-in cost. I'm not that impressed with the ARB, Dobinsons, and similar mainstream offerings made of metal. If you're in a similar situation, I highly recommend giving the Landshark Reef a shot.

My only minor frustration, if you can even call it that, is that Dave is pretty much a one man shop, and has had several periods (including now), where he just closes up shop. Related to this, he has struggled with having ready to ship inventory, which was frustrating as a buyer ready to make a purchase. It took a long time for the drawers to be in stock, and I had to buy accessories as they became available, rather than up front. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of.

That being said, Dave has always been helpful and communcative, and I prefer to do business with the independent shops that cater to our small cruiser market.

The other option that I'd consider if I were buying today are the Air Down Gear Up (ADGU). They weren't on the market when I was buying, but I like what they've done. Not sure where the cost lands though, as I recall, they are a more premium option than the Reef if you go with like for like configurations.
I am not surprised that you are happy, I suspect 99% (maybe all) of his customers are very satisfied. It does look like the new design is much better. It was hard for me to share my experience, as I wanted to like them so much. But, I felt the need as this community has been very helpful to me.

Would be interesting to add approx price for comparison. Also realistic use as single vs dual drawer. (Landshark can easily be done as a single drawer. Dobinson's I think could be but the exposed side is bare metal so it's not really designed for that, for instance). FWIW when I do these sorts of comparisons myself I tend to put it into a spreadsheet table for easy comparison. Feel free to use or ignore all of this paragraph ;)

I thought about this as well; maybe some kind of symbol to note the approximate price... "$" = sub-$1k, "$$" = $1k-$2k, "$$$" = $2k-$3k, etc. I might incorporate something like that.

Regarding the spreadsheet - I often will do something similar before a big purchase. If you create one, post it here in the replies and I can certainly link to it in the original post.

Thank you for the feedback.

I called around today trying to order arb drawers for the 200. Everyone I spoke to said there are no drawers available to purchase in North America. 2-3 month delivery time. Wtf.

Bummer. I expect this to be the story for the next couple of years - especially with companies based in Australia. Hopefully they get a shipment into the CONUS in that timeframe.

As another option, when I updated this thread over the weekend, Rugged Bound had dual Big Country 4x4 drawers in stock. I’ve owned ARB drawers in the past and, tbh, the BC 4x4 drawers appear to be a better all around product.

My electrician stopped by. He doesn't remember how long ago he built this, but this is the third truck they've been in and he's ordered another truck. He has pledged the bottoms of the drawers.

Did you try calling MetalTech4x4? I ordered a single ARB drawer from them 3 weeks ago (based on price and coupon code only). I just assumed super long lead times, but I got an email a week ago saying it has shipped. That being said, I don't know if it has actually shipped yet, because they didn't give me a tracking number.

Confirmed.

The delivery person just called, getting my ARB drawer and side fit kit tomorrow. So that was only a 2 week lead time from MetalTech4x4 (from placing order until it shipped, then 1 additional week in transit).

Killer deal! Once installed, please post a few photos here and I’ll link post in the Ironman section of the list.

Fitment is great although i had to enlarged 2 mounting holes to fit. Drawers slide with rollerblades bearings are smooth and quiet. Not bad for $940 shipped to my house. Might get a set for my 80 series.

Are the side and drawer panels metal? How's the noise factor?

Re delays…
Have a look at Australian news… Depending on the region…they are massively shut down and have been for a long time. Supply issues out the wazoo.

Then have a look at the mass of cargo ships now anchored offtge California coast near Long Beach cargo port (biggest in the US). There are countless thousands of containers on ships that no one can offload because of a truck driver shortage. One of their anchors caused an oil leak…so its all kinds of fun…

All adding to delays, price hikes, etc.

so after reading all this, going to manufacturers sites....i still do not know what i want to do.
saw some reviews that warned the all-metal ones were very noisy on the road, which made me worry.--i am planning LONG cross country trips, and do not want to hear metal clanging in the back the whole way.

so instead of pulling the trigger on these options, i decided to skin flint it today. got some 3/4" plywood, and some 2x12, and made a shelf. have two duffel bags that fit under it. and am going to try this out for a few trips. i am most interested in what height i need in the pull out drawers. this below will tell me if 11 1/2" drawer inside height is right or not

SUV SHELF.PNG

Dimensions to miss the four eye rings in the floor, two on inside, two on outside of frame.
in the LX570 the floor rolls away near the 2nd row seats, so i pushed the cross beam back a little bit to support the weight. you could push it all the way to the end, but would need to add a wood strip to the bottom of the crossbeam so it met the lowered floor height

BTW, if you use something other than a 2x12 for the frame, make sure the shelf does not keep the two small doors from opening in the wall on the passenger side.

there is room for a coil of recovery rope in front of that duffel bag on the right

FYI I did my entire drawer setup with 1/2” Baltic birch and some 8020 aluminum rails and it’s extremely strong.

A genuine thank you for this. I just use a Milwaukee Packout box right now. Fits well, but would like something a tiny more refined

I can't seem to find any verbiage anywhere that states these drawers create a flat surface when the second row seats are folded. Do any (or all) do that? I want to pull the trigger on one of these pre-fab versions but cannot decide which one might have the perfect height to match the second row seat backs. I guess I could measure..... But maybe someone here has practical info on that?

My sense is that you need the taller ones, like Trekbox (12") and Air Down Gear Up (13") to get a truly flat surface. I currently have Reef boxes, and they are definitely below the level of the seat back when folded. I can sleep on them fine, but it is sloped downward, going from front to back. I have a piece of 1/2" ply (scrap wall sheathing cutoff) that I carpeted which bridges the gaps and makes sleeping tolerable. I've slept in it with just jamming gear in the gaps, but that was less comfortable than I prefer at my age.
