Props on the “out of the box” choice of Nardo Grey. 🍻

Top is on and all cinched down. Got the drivers and passenger doors in place. Put the seats in but have yet to bolt them down. I know I'm gonna have to move them out of the way soon to finish up on the vintage air install, but gotta have em to putt around the block. So bolts tomorrow.....driving soon!

Looking forward to reading that first run report

I have done a lot of hoping in my life… it’s been ok most of the time. The ONLY thing that runs thru my head on hope is

During 9-11 Rudy Giuliani, then mayor of NYC commented “ hope is not a good strategy “… kinda annoyed me as sometimes that’s all you got.
Honestly, I hope it works ! 😉

Prayer and hope can work, but proper planning sure aids things along in achieving a good outcome.

So what happened to the two boats and the helicopter?

After a 5 year resto, she moves once again! My son, Stone took a quick snip of the ride. We never left the neighborhood, just a quick spin around. Still popping as you can tell from the video but I am all smiles. It's a great day! I ordered the cable to hook up the laptop to the sniper so Mosely can get some real time data and guide me to figure out what is going on with the pops.

FWIW; I called Holley tech probably 8 times during my install. 70% of the time it was good information and helpful. The problem is depending on the time of day…expect to be on hold 20-40 minutes.

I called with a full charge on the cell phone on speaker while I was working on something.. the only thing that REALLY sucks, is the freakin’ music on hold. It’s the same 8 bars over and over and over. Likely designed to get you to hang up 😂

If the popping remains unclear, might be worth it. Most techs seem to have addressed issues if not for the install, surely known issues in the ECU

😂 Appreciate it, Al. I'm going to try and figure it out and then if not, I’ll make sure I’m fully charged, caffeinated and mentally prepared for Holley’s 8-bar torture track. If the popping doesn’t get me, that hold music might.

No more making popcorn! Audios popparuski. I wound up pulling distributer, re-established and verified TDC then re-seated distributor. Fired right up, then verified timing. No backfires! Woohoo now time to drive it and let the sniper do its learning. What a relief. I earned myself an extra Oban tonight in celebration! Woohoo. Ha

@MAR FJ40 THAT is AWESOME….gotta feel great… handheld setting looks terrific. To get better tachometer resolution you can set the max rpm on the display to 4 or 5k… it’s only for the needle gauge but you’ll get full swing out of it instead of the 30 or 40* swing

Thanks for the tip! Just adjusted to 5K max.

Ever figure out why the temp is highlighted with the red box?

Vicarious enjoyment on my end… you must be more than pleased.

Yessir, pleased for sure! Have some details to get worked out yet still, but now that she is a runner again a whole new level of enjoyment is underway. Not too long ago when I put the first jump seat in, I sat in it and not gonna lie, about shed a tear. Countless trips with my family out to the farm as a kid in that seat- I remember them vividly. Now it's my turn to create memories in this machine with my boys. It's in as good, or in some aspects - capability wise and comfort wise - better than she rolled off the showroom floor. Stoked! Cheers to the possibility of another 50 years for this Forty to be in my family.

I know that feeling well. Met my wife 1975 and my cruiser was purchased in October 74. It was a rough winter…-30*F, snow 4 days a week and I have an old photo of my new FJ40 at Thanksgiving with 21” of snow on the roof. The 50+ years of memories started by that Land Cruiser have so much fondness for me. Not a sentimental guy until I turned 70. Some day I’ll post a few 1000 photos….hahaha😂

Looking forward to more progress, not that you have much more to go

Progress update.

Assembled the bezel and lights. Mounted bib, fenders and apron. Laid hood on just to see how alignment is looking. Will be making adjustments as expected, but happy overall where things are lining up. I'll figure it out when it's time to cinch things down.

Pulled the radiator to make adjustments to the housing for the vintage AC condenser. Going to get the condenser and compressor in place before returning to front clip alignment . Really enjoying spending the time with the BIL on the family rig

Set the toe in 1/8". It's really amazing how different the nardo gray looks in different light. First pic is at night under florescent lighting with garage door open. Second pic is direct sun coming in. Maybe there is a camera effect to some extent, but it's like two totally different colors.

Looks awesome. I love that color! I tossed that color around when I started mine, but went Rustic green.
