Chinese carbon fiber and Chinese steel are very different things. Composites are still a fairly new and technically confusing thing from a processing and manufacturing perspective...

Yup!

Also want to mention is that most of the top end carbon bike frames/wheels are made in China now so they have the quality but like anything you get what you pay for.

So Baldilocks may be touching base with EBI about a group buy price as well as some more detailed info on their gearset materials / sourcing etc. If he grabs some info and a "special price" we can add another option for everyone.

:)

Theirs are currently $620 and hopefully we can hit our magic $600 shipped pricepoint for all the bitches ;)

I've got 3 sets left from my last batch.
I called the supplier and they stated, 60 to 90 days lead time for the production of another batch of gears but it may be possible to change the time if the volume is there.
So which ever vendor everybody decides to go with, there is still a chunk of lead time before they land on this side of the planet

I called the bank for the recent exchange rate and the price from EBI is USD is $624.56
I'm sure with the volume I can get the price down a bit lower. Plus, if I can organize shipping from a US address, I can drop the price a bit more by not having to import into Canada and back the US
So, without having spent a pile of time on this, it looks like getting close to $600 with shipping (parcel post) could be done if the volume is there.

Let me know what you guys decide to do. This is a big order and will require some lead time to keep everyone happy.

I don't typically post prices or parts for sale on MUD because we're typically booked solid and we need more staff to take on more sales.

We've been in business since 1995 and work out of 6000 square foot shop doing lots of resto work and repair as well as the parts and acc's sales.
located in BC, Canada

I just finished a lengthy conversation with Steve at EBI in BC. He spoke with the Japanese vendor who supplies him and Marlin and who knows who else and we are looking at as much as 120 days but realistically less than 90 days.
The goal of $600 is very likely given no major depreciation in the US dollar.
The products will be shipped from Japan to a stateside location. It is very possible that ebi could simply ship the gear sets out to your address from that USA location allowing them to absorb the shipping costs into that $600.
As far as I know, this is our best option thus far even though my post lacks certain facts.
I will post as soon as I learn more.

As sure as Steve, at ebi's, word is true. You might call him yourself.

I thought these also fit the 100 series. Not to further complicate things, but if this fits my 98', I'd be in and so might a few other 100 series owners. Possibly lower the price a bit more if a few 100 series owners new about this and jumped in.

Update ?

Do we call ebi and order?
I PM'd Mud_Guppie yesterday to get some follow up info wih no reply so far. Thanks for reminding me to call him right now.

Just spoke with Steve at EBI. He is ready to take your order now. His regular price is $790.00 Canadian. Taking into account the current exchange rate plus $30-$40 shipping, his price is considerably less than "the other retailer" who gets these gears from the same vendor. Steve did mention that, in a small percentage of cases, 7-8% duty may be charged at the time of delivery but happens rarely and randomly. Even then the price is lower than "the other retailer".
EBI is ready to take your orders, prepayment and shipping info. You can go to the Internet to gain an idea of what today's exchange rate is but Steve said its not always accurate. Contacting your credit card company will tell you exactly what they will charge to your card. ETA is the end of summer. I am in no way affiliated with EBI. I'm just a cruiserhead trying to make this happen. :) EBI 604-944-0382

With shipping and whatever the tax might we are back to about 700. Is there no hope for these at 600?
