ARCHIVE made a tail gate storage

What modifications are needed to fit this if any? Also, have you had any ideas about lining the inside? I would of course do this myself I was just wondering if you've experimented with this to see what works.
 
No mods are required for this, you just need to trace, cut and bolt it in if you buy the complete kit. I haven't lined the inside of mine, I used a small yoga mat that was laying around. Mainly for all the recovery hooks and chains to sit on because I thought vibration would be a concern. I've seen some bald people use dynamat sound deadener as a liner.
 
I have 4 that should be ready to go by next week

That would be @Luke111. Shane makes a type as well but he's been MIA for so long and really starting to burn bridges. Kevin is stopping making his for the foreseeable future so that leaves what Luke is making and what Nguyen @socallove is making.

Paper or plastic, er I mean aluminum or plastic :flipoff2:

Whatever you feel works best for you, I don't see anyone as my competition because I'm not competing for anything.
I also enjoy having the spirit of competition when it's called for, it make things much more interesting and push one to improve or die ;)

I called the laser shop I use for work and they said if I supply sheet $100 to cut profile. Thickness doesn't matter.
Obviously I would have to provide template or dwg and buy hardware but this give you an idea of what the laser costs.
It would be a little more to run additional ones as they would likely load a 48x96 sheet.

I think this could be made out of 3/8 Baltic Birch too and cover with speaker cloth to match drawer build, but I would reinforce on back side with 1x1 Angle and screw and glue (liquid nails or similar) to make extra rigid. Obviously that could be done with a jig saw.
Or you could double up on Wood around lid and wood glue and clamp.

If your handy I'm sure this can be done on the cheap and still look good.

Not trying to hurt anyones feelings that are building these, but lets be honest, a lot of guys come on here because they don't want to go to dealer.

It all sounds good in until you add up everything...$100 laser cost... plus material , stainless latches & hinges, you will spend $200 plus... You may not care about how thick you make yours but for those who have storage drawers it does matter.

The only reason I started building my own was Wagongear stopped making them and then responded to those who have expressed and interest...Once mine is finalized ....I will simply give others the shops number and they can order direct..
You would have to sell thousands to make it worth ones time to produce these in quantity..

Guys like socallove, Kevin of Wagongear and I'll humbly include myself are just offering a solution to fellow forum members.... its not to make money or compete for business... if you have a cheaper solution that works for you... go for it ....but the feeling I got from your comment is socallove is charging to much or that they can be produce for so much less.....
I say share your experience and thoughts regarding cost after you've produced your first tailgate storage solution..that anyone on this forum would be willing to pay for...
