Yeah I think we are hijacking a thread here. I do hand a build thread on mine started. I've seen Sols and while I do like some of the things he has done, I will have my own plans.
I have 5 kids so it would take a school bus to have the perfect family crawler for me, but I just want to be able to take a couple at a time.

have a ported/upgraded box en route,

small hijack .. upgraded box with 105 series sector and pitman .? who did it for ya .?

Mount ram the way the arrow the pointing. So the piston is pushing towards the driver side knuckle so you don't have to worry about drive shaft clearance.

I'm not seeing how I can fit the thing in there.

Unless it can run at a severe angle from the tie rod to the axle mount, there's very little length to cram a ram in.

From the side of the diff to the arm mount, there's 18" and the centerline of the tie rod is 7.5" from the back side of the housing.

Seriously I don't see why you can't get one in there.
E mail me some pics from all angles. Even from the front so I can see the steering gear box and drag link and knuckle.
Give me your phone number and I will call you and go over it.

Hey you decided to go with some funky arms from Australia, with a normal radius arm set up you would have plenty of space. It would take quite some time to fabricate but you'll have to mount the ram super close to the tie rod and have it go through the radius arm opening. The ram itself can be at an angle that's the point of using heim joints.

My thinking, though very uneducated, was it would require less, since it is part of/inline with tie rod. No issues with the radius arms (assumed) since the tie rod functions now.

Glorified mount like this, was initial thinking.

The de ram as hydro assit is a little pointless in my opinion. Might as well go full hydro. Plus I don't like how low it mounts on the axle. If you were to do a de hydro assit it would be much safer on the back were the factory tie rod went.

edit:^^ for 80 axle, some how I overlooked that was a 60. Which I'd go with hysteer arms and mount the ram higher up.
