Bumper looks fantastic mate.
The light recess proportions take away from the overall look a bit, I think longer thinner driving lights would have worked better

Thanks man! Yeah, a little of the flow did get lost with the light pockets. But I think that will improve once I put lights in them. I really needed these particular lights (low/high output) because I'll use them on the street, especially during snow storms. I could hardly find the road last night with my stock headlights!

How did you find the diesel engine you got? Did you know what you wanted and look for it. I'm finishing my 200 build . Want to do an 80 and diesel next.

So, I bought my rig with the diesel swapped in. The previous owner sourced his diesel in B.C., from a wrecked RHD 80. Then he imported it, installed it and had Torfab complete the swap. I can look through the receipts but, from what I hear, there are a number of businesses in B.C. that source 1HDTs for U.S. customers/installers. I also know that Tor can source 1HDTs. (though going through him might be a little more pricey)

Hope that helps!

Aha....good info to know. Thanks. Makes sense sourcing an engine from Canada. Hadn't thought of that.
What about passing USA inspections. Or do we not have to if it's over a certain age?

I think it depends on which state you try to register in. The previous owner had registered it in Oregon, so I know that can be done. Here in New Hampshire (the Live Free or Die state), it was pretty simple. I had it "safety" inspected at my local tire shop. When it came to the engine, they saw it was diesel and had no functional OBD port. So, they skipped reading it. Over 20 years old and there are no emissions requirements, either. After that, I went to my local town hall and asked them to issue me a new title, with a diesel fuel type. They said "ok" and that was that. I should get my new title soon. Now, I believe I can move anywhere and will be titled as a diesel where ever I go!

Yeah....there are states that are strict. I've heard some guys just license them in Montana when that's the situation. Supposedly easy to do just by mail. :))

Got some rig related items for Christmas!

Cell phone/ CB mic holder installed:

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Back from powder coat. I got it done in silver, much like the stock bumper. I wanted something a little different and wanted the angles to show up. I think it looks pretty good!

Close up of the color:

Here a little point of concern... I asked for 1/8" of powder on the tie downs above the weld. They taped and powdered right at the weld. I hope that the transition didn't draw the standard steel up into that zone where it can rust. The powder coater said if any rust starts forming, they'd redo the bumper.

Bumper looks awesome, good choice going with silver to show the craftsmanship better.

Regarding the powdercoating and possibilities of rust, you dont need to worry about it rusting. Those stainless parts were no doubt TIGd in with a stainless filler rod. @RDC76 will have to confirm but I wouldn't lose sleep over where they put the PC line.

When i was deployed a few years back we TIGd a "Thor's hammer" out of chunks of mild steel but used stainless rod. The insanely humid environment we were in oxidized and turned all the bare mild steel red/brown in a couple weeks but every single stainless TIG bead looked like it had just been burned in with no impurities/oxidation.

Thanks for the info! That made me settle down a bit. I'm glad you think that the silver looks ok... I know that straying from standard black is always a risk!

Just picked the Cruiser up from "The Rust Stop" in Concord. I got the Rustoration treatment done. The process wire brushes or sand blasts and formed rust, followed by a rust inhibitor. Then NH Oil Coat (like fluid film) is applied. Comes with a lifetime touchup warranty, if any rust shows up. Hopefully this will be good rust insurance out here in New England.
how long did they have the rig and how bad was the cost?? I have fluid film and my underside is very clean but I have nowhere to spray it, so............

I got the Rustoration treatment, which mean't I had to leave it overnight and pick up the next day. The first day they clean up and spray the rust encapsulator/inhibitor. I think this is acid based. Then, the next day they oil coat (fluid film). That process cost me $600, but it comes with a lifetime warranty.

If you just want a fluid film, they do that as well. I believe it takes about an hour and costs just over $100.

It's a family owned business and I've had quality work both times I went there. They spray inside body cavities, over skid plates, inside doors etc. Seems to be decent work.

Lights are on and the winch is sitting in the bumper. I just need to find a good location for solenoid and wire it up.

After seeing a panned out shot of the stainless hardware and the PCing, I think it looks mint. Amber covers look awesome with the amber turn signals just above. I saw you mention that those Rigids have a high and low output? Could you provide more details on them please?

Thanks! Here are the Rigid lights I'm running. Even these grumpy New Englanders didn't flash their high beams at me when I run them in low output mode. Each light is 3100 lumens and low output is 20% of that so 620 lumens.

Also, since appreciate the details, you'll probably appreciate the mounting of the Costa bumper. It's made so that you can lift it and set it on the frame of the truck and rest it there. He made an open style pocket that holds stays in place and you can fine tune the adjustment to line the bolts up. Mounting and removing are really easy. Plus, it uses 10 stock bolt locations... pretty strong. Here are some pics:

Installed BH3D cell phone/CB mic holder and cup holders. Not terribly exciting but these additions make the driver's seat feel a little more modern!

All The Stainless Pieces on the bumper are welded on with 309 stainless filler in most cases. The only concern with rusting wouldn't be what you would expect with raw steel left bare. But you could possibly see tiny rust spotting in the weld bead as it picks up some of the base material during the fusion process. That's why its good to mask just a hair above the bead. My main concern when one has a bumper powdercoated is inside the pockets and all the seams inside the wings in between all the stitch welds . If one has one of my bumpers powdercoated and not painted I always recommend brushing in a good paint inside both wings getting into all the seams.

this is fine coverage for the loops ...

Depo housings came in the mail today! They look like quality units. But they didn't come with any bulbs. Any suggestions on what bulbs to use with these things?

Also, for those who know... are Depos plug and play with a Slee harness? All I can find when searching is about modifying a Slee.
