If I was in Georgia, I would hang my head in shame.....or a poor approximation thereof. :)

ROAD REPORT

This thing runs pretty good. A little floaty above 80 (that's MPH not KPH). :)

Slow down there big boy!! It's called a 70 Series because that's the safest maximum speed.
To quote Spider-Man "with great horsepower comes great responsibility".

Thanks for the concern...

Spidey wears tights - I wear Carhartts :)

OOPS :crybaby:

So after a week on the road, I have been the beneficiary of the substantial hospitality of Georg, Dominic, Luke and Ryan......while enjoying the work of the entire Torfab build crew. Other than a small TC leak (crush washer) the truck delivered 1,800 miles of safe, fast and comfortable road time for an awesome shakedown run.

Initial fuel mileage of 14 to 15 mpg at cruising speeds between 60 and 75 mph.

Last leg with water view :)

Cool stuff Ward. Since you are nearly tired of it, let me know when you want to unload it…..:D

I am having way too much fun so far. It is really fun to watch bystanders when I fire it up.

Nicely done, Ward!!!
Thanks, Bro. But I cannot take credit.

This thing exists entirely due to Torfab and the skills of the team - Jason, Vitaly, Donovan, Adam, Nick and Tor.

Chchchchanges.....

I must admit there is a certain sense of satisfaction in getting your hands dirty while you do your own work.

I got my hands soiled while washing road grime from the windscreen....

No news of note. Truck has been in storage pending upholstery (carpet, headliner, trim) which was completed last week. Wrapping up final details on punch list left over from the build - nothing major. One mod that has been added is regear to 3.73. With the broad power range of the GM motor, we can drop the revs down a bit in cruise mode. Aiming for 2,000 RPM at 70 MPH.

Scheduled to be in No Cal at 4x4 Labs for second fitting of bumper in early March, on a second long-distance road trip/break-in run.

Still fussing with option to go with digital gauge package.

Wow Ward, that is a beautiful rig! That rear bumper looks like it'll fit the rest of the truck perfectly.
And just because you aren't fabricating or turning wrenches doesn't mean you don't get credit for the build...its the vision, the strategy and the confidence to pull the trigger that's equally important......oh, and there's all the work you do have to do in order to be able to write the check! :)

I really admire the skills of the good fabricators and even bought a welder recently to play around - but knowing your limitations is also a key part of the build process!

Too bad you are on the left side of the country - I'd love to see your truck - and then convince you to sell it to me for a ridiculously low price. Mwah, hah, hah, hah.....(evil laugh)

70 in a 70

Thanks for the kind words.

You are welcome to convince me to sell it...... :) It will probably end up in a new home at some point down the road.

More likely, I might be able to help with part of your wish list (seeing/driving the truck) as I hope to be in SE next Autumn.

If my life and wife allow, planning to be at Logan's Run and SE 70 Series meet.

Decent power, cruise control, air conditioning, BMW seats, good stereo/phone system, lots of noise padding - why I spec'd the truck the way I did for the build. "Six days on the road" at 70 mph in a 70 Series.

The only reason this came to be is Tor Slinning and his crew at Torfab....and Chris Spaulding who sold me the truck.....and Georg Esterer who helps keep me sane and paying for toys :)

The Brotherhood!
