Looking for parts for my 62 Soft top frame off Restoration

Was this before you met John Pardi? He would have gladly helped you with parts. You could have probably financed your whole project just from selling parts. I have nine Land Cruiser made before 1968 and parts I don't remeber wher I got them. What happened with your girlfriends parents is the reason I need to start unloading know. Always saw another project but no time.

I just met John about four months ago and we cleaned that thing out ten years ago I just recently went snooping around the house to see what else I could find. There was a lot of inquiry's about this fj people stop by every week to ask her if she wanted to sell it she finally said to me would you do something with it I'm tired of people bugging me so that's how I got trapped into this Land cruiser world now I can't get out.

unfortunately they both past away within six months of each other and they were in good heath came down with cancer.

Ouch, ouch, and ouch :frown:

Not the first time I hear of such stories. Last year I was trying to help a guy who's son past away, and left behind a bunch if Toyota stuff...including a 40, and a mini truck that was being rebuild with some cool mods. Luckily I knew of a local Toyota man that helps many of the the local Toyota owners with parts from his stash...he picked up everything Toyota, but had he not, I am pretty sure half would have been scr*pped, and the rest would have been sold for pennies. I would have liked the 40 myself (it was made in a half cab) but it felt wrong to offer him any less, and at the time I could not justify spending what he was asking.

So she sold you this old 40? Has she seen all the work you have put into it? Bet she'll love it once all done, and you guys take it for a ride :D

Tom, like I said, one day you are going to have to show us some of your techniques...ever think of making quick videos for YouTube...or your own site? Peter had once posted links to some metal fab guys making parts while working on old cars in Germany...I love watching those and learning...living life is forever learning something new, and sometimes someone pops up with new and fresh ideas...

:idea: oh, and I just had an idea, after you give it back to her, maybe I can give you mine, and wait for you to give it back when you are done :hillbilly::lol: ...na I could never do that...I was just busting...half the fun is hunting down parts, but for me, the best part is spending more time with my daughter as we restore this old rig together... I just hope I am talented enough to do as nice, and clean work as you are doing here...only time will tell :beer:

She gave it to me but when it's done I'm going to surprise her and give it back she has kinda been watching I built her a new Salon and spa about a year ago and she works like twelve hours a day six days a week I have been just kinda giving her up dates sent her a text of the horn I finished and she said something nice she thinks I should have my own TV show

you can do it my friend use to drive this rig to high school and when I first saw the thing it had a boat on top of it I'M NOT KIDDING A BOAT 12 foot a aluminum boat that what those metal brackets were on the side of it.

one short step with inside facing mounting tabs, one short step (donor)with outward facing mounting tabs.

dissect them, tig them together. with a little bit of grinding and some slap paddles, no one would know the difference.

exactly the same dimensions as an OEM one

Nice work Sean. It just dawned on me the reason for three different steps. These will only work thru the 67 model year. Starting with the 68 model the bumperettes moved in to make room for refectors. The inside bumperettes holes are where the step had been mounted. So these were 58 thru 67 models. The next were 68 thru 73 models, and finally 74 thru 84. The 68 thru 73 will bolt directly to the earlier models. Just wish I had a 67 and 68 parts books to see if that when the change happened. Interesting:hhmm:
