i am doing what luke is doing,, working with my local shop for a price and stuff, why dont you do the same down there to see what the price would be. i think there is plenty of room for all of us to check into a price to get a tank built, then we can have the best shop/price do them.

i think there is plenty of room for all of us to check into a price to get a tank built, then we can have the best shop/price do them.

We'll need to discuss to ensure we are all asking for pricing on the same thing. If you have a fully baffled 30 gallon tank, Luke has a tank with a heavy gage skid plate and I copy the 50 gallon tank I have we'll have three different prices on three different items. We need to know what we want a price on and then all get a price on the same item.

Gas Tank

I plan on getting a price on the tank that IPOR made for my 55, 33 gal above the frame rail, its a simple rectangle design and does not have a skid plate. It does have straps and tabs that bolt into the frame and has factory stye vent tubes and filler neck.
I don't think it really matters what style the tank is as long as the price is right.
I don't want this to become a big deal about who does what or styles etc..., so I'll do the research and share the info with the group and you guys can decide what is best for the group.

i hear ya guys,,, my tank will basically be a deeper version of the stock tank, just a simple box flush with the bottom of the frame rail,,, with stock type filler and vents, i'm only planning a baffle around the pick-up.

Lou, am I right in thinking that the baffling is running from side to side rather than front to back?? I'm no gas tank expert but wouldn't it make more sense to run the baffles front to back to avoid side to side slosh when cornering?

thats the baffle around the pick-up pablo,,,, i had assumed the standard baffles were a given, and my only additional baffle would be around the pick-up,,, sorry for the confusion.

lukes pics sum up my ideas for a tank pretty well, looks like a stock tank but deeper and an added pick-up baffle, thats what i was/am planning to make so if you can have them done luke do it.

i should have a price pretty soon, so we can compare as our tanks are pretty darn similar.

well so far its looking more expensive than i woulda thought, for about what lou is showing i am being told between $8-900. i am getting a stock tank from another pig owner and will take that around with me to a couple other shops i know about and see what we can do.

i have the capability to make a tank, but any number of them is alot of time and work for a small garage shop like myself.

STILL interested :flipoff2:

I am about to lop the backend off of my 55 and rebuild it (better), I would love to do this around my new tank- but after what seems like a year of chewing the cud- its looking like I may need to venture out on my own? Lost the # to the only tankbuilder I knew...

Tank Issues

I'm not having any luck with the company that did the scuff plates do to Fed Guide Lines, so if you really need a new tank or want the larger tank call Lance at IPOR and he'll make you one, but its going to cost around $900.00. If you guys put a group buy together of three to five tanks I'm sure he would drop the price a liitle, maybe $800.00 and you can be assured this thing wil bolt right in.
If you guys want me to take the lead and talk to him I will be happy to. :)
Just to get a count, how many are ready and willing to spend the money now to get a new tank? :hhmm:
Chime in and I'll talk to Lance

Regards

Lou

Sounds like I should check things out down here. I can't imagine it would cost that much here though shipping will cost more for sure.

I called IPOR months and months ago and expressed that I would love a copy of your tank, my info was taken and that was it? But I am sure you have more pull with him than I
