Not really the place for politics, but it has to be said. Harper has nothing to do with all that you are bitching about here. The price of fuel, insurance costs in Quebec, Quebec laws, Quebec Police.....This is all Charest.

Last I checked, Charest was classified as a Red Tory.

Well, Harper sure knows it!!!

I went to Hawkesbury last week and talked to the young guy at the Econo Gas (where diesel was 128.1 whereas its 139.9 here and I usually fill $300 worth of fuel in my blue tanks when I get the chance to get there)... We were chatting about RHD vehicles, he was telling be that because he'd done some stupid things with his motorbike (wheelies, IIRC), he's now paying..... (drumroll)...TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR for his car insurance FOR HIS LHD TERCEL!!! And one of his buddies made the mistake of driving his RHD Skyline out of his city and got caught by the cops... He got it IMPOUNDED with an EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLAR FINE!

My son drives a little s*** box Honda, most common car around for young people, or so it seems, a 13 year old sturdy little bugger, nothing fancy, we got it at a decent price, uses it to deliver pizza after school. Last summer when he was working full time he was stopped 5 times in a span of 3 weeks... Why? 'Routine Check'... Did you know that one routine check is OK, but several in a row is POLICE HARASSMENT?! I got it from the mouth of a retired police chief myself!!!

And guess who is persecuted by all these fascists tactics? YOUNG MALES, and I am SICK AND TIRED of the PC crowd emasculating our society!!!

And the weirdest thing is... I just woke up in the middle of the night, NOW, from a dream that I was filling my truck with that cheaper ON fuel, at home, I spilled a little and within seconds had cop cars at my house investigating!!!

We ARE living in fascist times, were ordinary citizens are turned into criminals. Like I said before... It's not for no reason Harper wants to build new prisons... It's to put US and especially OUR BOYS in there!!!

'Nuff said!

Agreed, mostly provincial. Still, I've never heard of a $20k road premium!! That's almost criminal! And here I thought ICBC was bad.

Besides I always thought that price of just about everything (excepting a few items) is decided by the market. Not happy with the price shop somewhere else. Or...make a lot of noise like the truckers in Alberta. I wish the truckers in BC start making some noise!!!

Ahem...

Hawkesbury is in... ONTARIO :flipoff2:

That being said... Charest IS a Red Tory and I've read enough BS from that cock eating PC bitch, Julie Boulet, who was his transport minister at the time, responsible for the RHD ban, to be able to say with certainty that she's just a frustrated **** with penis envy.

If that foul language earns be a ban, so be it, because there is simply no other way to say it.

I've been filling my TDI Jetta, CRD Liberty and diesel long wheelbase Samurai with B99 bio diesel here in the Seattle area for a while now. Currently its 4.09 a gallon.

While that may be good in your local area, that is actually high based on diesel cost in the Southeast U.S. I just filled up my front tank at $3.69
per gallon in Southern Georgia. Not cheap by any standard but certainly less than $4.09.

I suspect the difference is local government taking their cut. Last summer, I noticed the diesel was signicantly cheaper in Sumas, Lynden and Bellingham than cities further South and East.

$3.85 US/GAL in Craigmont ID today for on road and $3.55 US/GAL for off road.

Gas & Diesel prices

Chevron Station in Rosamond, CA

BC boyz , And canuks.

Volume Corrected to 15c

They sell amount of volume,,, not weight / mass / BTU's

BUT after last week on buying fuels , Gas/Petrol & Diesel 850.00 + .

I filled up 60 L barrels of ELF / Total EU oil barrels that I open 2 a week(new oil full synthetic for the part time euro fancys). I know where their fill line is , it is 29mm or 1.3" from the top. If I am to fill the diesel to that amount like last week , 62- 63 L(two different stations) it took . Petrol / gas was even worse , 64 + , again two different stations .

I Also purchase fuel in USA , the other house , My tank gets bigger in Canada, less in USA , Manual seems correct to USA fills..

Most of my Basic food is purchased in USA , It's totally out of control with the "Tariffs" and making sure were paying the "Crown" Queenie guys... Crown Land ring a bell ?? YES , That one..

Almonds hole (nuts) in Canada 1.68 per 100g OR 1.68 X 4.55 = price per pound in Canada is 7.64 each pound, USA @ Winco is 2.84 usd per pound.

I buy hundreds of $$,basic nuts to beans ,popcorn lots in the Bulk section,, all is less than half ++..

Im buying a new Gas stove made in Canada $523.18 after all taxes cheaper in USA for paying there 8.7% tax in Washington . I brought it back Customs didn't charge or wanted to open that page .
Please explain that to me , Unique stove MADE IN Canada . same as Canwest plastic's i bought Electrical conduit , 1.38(taxes in) per 10 foot length in 3/4" ,, here in Canada at Home depot 4.18(TI) each but made in usa, canwest is from Canukland ..

Same as many items..
Clark is taxing BC Canadians to make young family's move out , Harper is dying to join USA in another conflict (hear him go on about Iran /) time to become Canada Again !!!

My views on the Corporation USA is just Itching for making more ________________..
Just wait who throws the first stone. =Long read ,

It sucks paying the Crown Still.

Canada supplies 85% of USA's fuel , has 33Mil folks but is NOT a wealthy Dubai !!!

Explain where the $$$ are going ,, Paid in used Brit subs that fail & Fighter Aircraft that WE don't need ..

I'd like answers , not poling BS slanders about voting booths and crank calls ..

agreed,
we need to cut ties to the Crown completely.

Canada needs to become Canada and not Harperville.

i like to support a canadian business but ... it will be small Canadian businesses, not the big chain stores. at that point i shop for the best deal at the same quality.

nice post VT.

Here is one item I purchased last month.

I needed a new garden tractor battery for my Craftsman lawn tractor , Grass cutting about to start again on the BC wet coast,So i trip into Walmart and pick one up , with taxes & BC enviro 'LEVYS" 54.18 is what they wanted. I didn't have the old one with me to return , but they didn't care in BC about , Just a Battery Levy to Cristy's Air Travel Fund.

Feck that, Walmart in Washington State , must return old battery, rather than toss it in the bush , and not get charged the core amount of 8 or 9 bucks. Total with taxes in for the same battery & brand 23.66 USD.

Answers ??

Sorry I can't support gouging governments Provencal & Federal & the Monarch Crap , every wonder why some royal smuck's comes to Canada with 100 accountants & check Bank Of Canada's books ?
Plus it must be within a time frame of every two years..

Now get to work Slaves

The enviro-lobby is the gift that keeps on giving...to govts on both sides of the border. There's all kinds of levies (taxes) on just about any chemical thing you buy in BC. The same thing happened in Ontario, but I think people revolted in such numbers that they backed off on the that particular levy.

Anything in Canada that has a "board" in charge of it (read expensive bureaucrats with fat pensions) means higher prices. Wheat, milk, ,eggs etc means that cheese, eggs and milk are just so much more expensive in Canada.

That does not explain the other anomalies you describe or other price differences such as made-in-Quebec snowmobiles being a lot more expensive here than across the border.

The fuel story is probably a lot more complicated than the above, but heck, I can't understand it either. All I know is, I am glad I drive a diesel cos if push comes to shove, I can make my own fuel.

I hate paying more for stuff than in the states just as much as the next guy. But, there are some facts that people should consider before we blame the crown, the gov, or the business owner.

Land is a hell of a lot more expensive in this country, in general. Wages are a hell of a lot higher in this country, in general. Other costs of doing business are higher in this country, in general. The population is much lower and therefor the purchasing power of business is much lower.

Does this all account for double the price, or worse, when we buy stuff? I don't know. But I do know that we shouldn't expect Wayne or VT to cut their wages in half because some guy across the border will do whatever job for that price. Hell, Jose in Mexico can do it a lot cheaper than that.

I'm not knocking you guys but just giving some food for thought. We've got it pretty damn good in this country even if it does cost more.
