Northern Nevada
(Carson City area)
Cheap gas: $3.47 to $3.67
Diesel: ~$3.87
We are lucky in that we have a couple of biofuel stations with GE-Bentley being based in Minden/Gardnerville

gas $1.18
diesel $1.24 around here
diesel $1.28 in Toronto

That really p!sses me off. The refineries are just 70 km away. We don't pay the GVRD's ridiculous fuel tax and the Big Smoke still pays less! Can't blame gov on that price difference. I am sure the taxes are the same or more in Ontario. The fuel companies are giving it to us in BC, big time.

3.78 US gal down here today ..

Bloody ridiculous! In a good way though ? that works out to just 0.99 cents a liter!

We're getting shafted for 1.42 a liter here.

Oh man that is a knife in the back. I bet there are a lot of folks driving over to GP with Tidy tanks for mega fill-ups and no provincial sales tax shopping.

Not really, volume's are still being limited to 600L per day, not sure if suncor refinery is up an running again, google AB diesel shortage for more info

This is the reason Suncor gives for the shortage...

Suncor says it's because hydrogen sulphide is running low and the company is rationing its supply of diesel.

 How in the hell can H2S be in short supply with all the sour gas wells up there. I didn't even know that you needed H2S to refine diesel. Seems to me more like a manufactured shortage to keep prices high.

nah, no way, is there any precident of oil companies claiming shortage to drive prices up?

say early 70s?

Oh boo-bloody-hoo, it costs them $1.18 and they're complaining?? The price of everything that needs to be delivered via truck has skyrocketed due to the taxes and other crap the provincial govt and translink have heaped upon us.

I seriously don't get how come truckers here don't seem to complain.

That is what I thought too. But all the media is saying the same thing "a shortage of hydrogen sulfide". As I understood it, the refining process for ULSD used hydrogen as the sulfur in the fuel would bond with the hydrogen to become hydrogen sulfide. The refinery would then separate out the sulfur or make it into sulfuric acid to be sold as a byproduct.

NO NO NO!

Now it has happened here to! Today diesel was more expensive than petrol.
The politicians have found out that petrol are better for the environmental so diesel prices are skyrocketing :(
3-2 years back they said, everybody buy diesel cars! its so much more environmental friendly and we will cut down on the taxes around diesel.
They are even going to let diesel cars be the only cars that have to pay to drive in the citys :(
I hate politicians ....

Sorry, just had to let out some steam ...

btw: 2.54$ (CAD) a liter here now :/
