Local Diesel Prices

John, I believe Superstore has their coupon out where you spend a hundred in the store, then you can get 10 cents a litre off fuel, 20 cents if you use the Superstore card to purchase the fuel.

Kim/ John, I got so disgusted with the prices that last night I went down to Bellingham to fill up...1.04/L. That's almost $40 per tank difference if you're doing a full 90 L. Heck, I got so fed up, that I bought all my motor oil and gear oil there too! Can't believe how much I saved!

I just read that BC Ferries is raising their fares. I find it strange that they use the term "Marine Fuel" though, and not diesel. I think there must be a big public outcry (the way the truckers did in Alberta) for anything to happen. Even with taxes, the price differences just don't make sense.

It's not worth the time and money to go stateside for fuel from our neck of the woods, mark. IMHO. You might save 30 bucks but you spend near that in fuel to get there. Also, I have no time so that would be a pure waste of it for me. If it works for you, good on ya.

You're probably right Kim. But when the wife wants to get her groceries and other shopping done as well, well might as well.

It would be pointless to go down just to gas up. Not unless one lived in Abby or Aggie at least.

I live in Abby but I just don't have the time to cross the border just for fuel. But when we do go across, I make sure to top up before coming back. I rarely let my tank get to below 25 L. I've 95L tanks. I think Kim has the best solution using Superstore special offers and mixing it with veggie oil.

A friend of mine in Kamloops this evening sent a picture showing gas at 99.9.... According to my GasBuddy app diesel is somewhere around 135.9 :/

$3.89 - .10c it was $3.79 per gallon = $1.01/L

Gavin and I went to Bellingham for fuel last night. We brought two 5 gallon Jerrys with us as well. My parents have a Fred Meyer discount card good for .10c per gallon off. Pump price was #3.89 - .10c it was 3.79 per gallon. We saved $60 on fuel alone and then got oil at 1/2 the price Canadian tires sells Rotella T for, also got some diesel treatment for 1/2 cost in Canada and Sea Foam for $8 a can. Overall we saved $120 and it took us 1.5 hours and 60km round trip. Well well worth the time and drive.

Doesn't apply to most who visit this site, but I paid $163.9c/L in a place called Clermont, in Central Queensland, last week. Just filled again today in Townsville, Queensland at $147.9c/L - that tank cost $177.00AUD.

On the way to the Cape, it regularly hits $2.50/L.....

I'm too scared to fill up my long range tank in the 60...

Australian prices are set by the Singapore benchmark price. They have their own refineries but also import from within the region. On a side note, I have heard quite a few on Patrol4x4 complain about getting chit Asian diesel from some servos. I was told in East Timor that diesel was sold in used 1L water bottles by street fuel resellers so buyers could see what they were buying. I'd hate to have to fill up a 95L tank that way.

Yep Translink is going to insert (pun intended) new property taxes as well as gas taxes I hear, to pay for the new "improvements". How did we allow ourselves to get into this situation where unaccountable, unelected and self-interested bureaucrats get to tax us. :bang::bang:
Not enough people complain, and those who do are seen as deranged fools.

Just look at the situation with the online spying and copyright bills the Harper Government wants to shove down our throats ... Then you'll understand why he's building new prisons!!!

We live in a society that is becoming FASCIST, and no one seems to see it and have no clue it is happening NOW and who's behind it. I had Paul Desmarais tell me once in all candor - that was in october 1987 when I was working on his 4000 square foot 'log cabin extension' - When I want to have many guests I go to a big restaurant or the community hall - that people had too easy an access to money and that it was driving prices up (yes, thank you for giving me a decent salary for time it lasted, sir!) and that he would have to do something about that!

These right-wing, crush-people's-rights-and-freedoms policies are happening RIGHT NOW in most western so-called democracies, just like it happened in Europe in the early (19)30s, with the exception that now, with the internet, more people can see what's happening and revolt against it, and more countries are in bed with each other. In other words, it's becoming global.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we were ultimately saved from tyranny by the very countries our governments decry of have decried as tyrants, China and Russia?

i wouldn't be surprised if they started recording fuel levels when crossing over and charging tax on those purchases as well...

anyone ever wondered where all the tax money goes? it doesn't go back into the economy...
They would sure make a law to intimidate people, but actually enforcing it? Not unless the fines are extremely high and make it worth the police's time for checking, such as $250 per vehicle. With the price of fuel being so high, do you really believe they actually could slate a law like that in parliament?

I understand your anger and believe me, I concur!!! But I don't think it's feasible at this time. Not unless they invent a technology to make this check easy, like they do for speed trap cameras.

NO NO NO!

Now it has happened here to! Today diesel was more expensive than petrol.
The politicians have found out that petrol are better for the environmental so diesel prices are skyrocketing :(
3-2 years back they said, everybody buy diesel cars! its so much more environmental friendly and we will cut down on the taxes around diesel.
They are even going to let diesel cars be the only cars that have to pay to drive in the citys :(
I hate politicians ....

Sorry, just had to let out some steam ...

btw: 2.54$ (CAD) a liter here now :/
It would be interesting to know what PROPORTION of your income goes to fuel... Mine's over 15% (used to be around 10%) and no, I'm NOT a trucker!!! Last time I tried to increase my rates because of cost of fuel, I lost business and have only been regaining it since I started absorbing the extra cost (no kidding, $20 off is still worth a lot of money for most folks around here).

damn, does Oz have its own refinery?
perhaps a better question would be "damn, does Oz have its own Stock Market?", because besides government taxes, oil prices are mostly driven by the fear incited by Stock Market Investors...

i live in Ontario, the land of the huge fines.
all they need to do is make a provincial law with a $2500 fine and nail a couple of innocent persons and everyone else will run like sheep before the Wolf ...

we bitch in our beer but when it comes time to take it to the streets then 99% crawl back under the log.

Canadians are a spineless bunch, Hitler would have loved us. :hhmm:

Well, Harper sure knows it!!!

I went to Hawkesbury last week and talked to the young guy at the Econo Gas (where diesel was 128.1 whereas its 139.9 here and I usually fill $300 worth of fuel in my blue tanks when I get the chance to get there)... We were chatting about RHD vehicles, he was telling be that because he'd done some stupid things with his motorbike (wheelies, IIRC), he's now paying..... (drumroll)...TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR for his car insurance FOR HIS LHD TERCEL!!! And one of his buddies made the mistake of driving his RHD Skyline out of his city and got caught by the cops... He got it IMPOUNDED with an EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLAR FINE!

My son drives a little s*** box Honda, most common car around for young people, or so it seems, a 13 year old sturdy little bugger, nothing fancy, we got it at a decent price, uses it to deliver pizza after school. Last summer when he was working full time he was stopped 5 times in a span of 3 weeks... Why? 'Routine Check'... Did you know that one routine check is OK, but several in a row is POLICE HARASSMENT?! I got it from the mouth of a retired police chief myself!!!

And guess who is persecuted by all these fascists tactics? YOUNG MALES, and I am SICK AND TIRED of the PC crowd emasculating our society!!!

And the weirdest thing is... I just woke up in the middle of the night, NOW, from a dream that I was filling my truck with that cheaper ON fuel, at home, I spilled a little and within seconds had cop cars at my house investigating!!!

We ARE living in fascist times, were ordinary citizens are turned into criminals. Like I said before... It's not for no reason Harper wants to build new prisons... It's to put US and especially OUR BOYS in there!!!

'Nuff said!

when they made insurance mandatory they gave free reign ... they can charge what ever they want to and up that charge with any infraction.

as much as i don't really want to share the road with non-insured persons, i would risk that over the almighty power the insurance companies have... with the governments blessings to boot.
