2.54 Can per litre...man, that sucks!

Not enough people complain, and those who do are seen as deranged fools.Yep Translink is going to insert (pun intended) new property taxes as well as gas taxes I hear, to pay for the new "improvements". How did we allow ourselves to get into this situation where unaccountable, unelected and self-interested bureaucrats get to tax us.![]()
They would sure make a law to intimidate people, but actually enforcing it? Not unless the fines are extremely high and make it worth the police's time for checking, such as $250 per vehicle. With the price of fuel being so high, do you really believe they actually could slate a law like that in parliament?i wouldn't be surprised if they started recording fuel levels when crossing over and charging tax on those purchases as well...
anyone ever wondered where all the tax money goes? it doesn't go back into the economy...
It would be interesting to know what PROPORTION of your income goes to fuel... Mine's over 15% (used to be around 10%) and no, I'm NOT a trucker!!! Last time I tried to increase my rates because of cost of fuel, I lost business and have only been regaining it since I started absorbing the extra cost (no kidding, $20 off is still worth a lot of money for most folks around here).NO NO NO!
Now it has happened here to! Today diesel was more expensive than petrol.
The politicians have found out that petrol are better for the environmental so diesel prices are skyrocketing
3-2 years back they said, everybody buy diesel cars! its so much more environmental friendly and we will cut down on the taxes around diesel.
They are even going to let diesel cars be the only cars that have to pay to drive in the citys
I hate politicians ....
Sorry, just had to let out some steam ...
btw: 2.54$ (CAD) a liter here now :/
perhaps a better question would be "damn, does Oz have its own Stock Market?", because besides government taxes, oil prices are mostly driven by the fear incited by Stock Market Investors...damn, does Oz have its own refinery?

I understand your anger and believe me, I concur!!! But I don't think it's feasible at this time. Not unless they invent a technology to make this check easy, like they do for speed trap cameras.
Well, Harper sure knows it!!!i live in Ontario, the land of the huge fines.
all they need to do is make a provincial law with a $2500 fine and nail a couple of innocent persons and everyone else will run like sheep before the Wolf ...
we bitch in our beer but when it comes time to take it to the streets then 99% crawl back under the log.
Canadians are a spineless bunch, Hitler would have loved us.![]()
