Hey John. Thx for posting this up, i think it's valuable to re-evaluate what might be a good fit. When i started this, i was using older LEDS already and think there are probably several new ones out that might be better.

So what i am going to do is pull info together here as I go (with lots of pics of course). I think i can pull pics of dimensions to compare with what i have so we can make sure the newer (and brighter) LED's will fit to avoid anyone getting something that won't work. (like my 1157 5w LED brake lights...)

more to come...

For the SIDEMARKERS:

I have the WLED-x5 amber for the fronts, WLED-x6 red in back. I'm trying to recall why the difference, and think i liked the wide light beam of the x5's for the front amber marker...

Here are the specs for the WLED-x5 ($2.99):
WLED-x5_mm.jpg

And specs for the WLED-x6 ($2.79):
WLED-x6_mm.jpg

Now i unfortunately have not measured the side markers to see if there are any clearance differences, but think since the above fit we can compare with the newer HP LED's to make sure they will fit.

The WLED-xHP5 dimensions to compare ($5.95):
WLED-xHP5_mm.jpg

Another alternate might be the WLED-xHP6 ($4.95):
WLED-WHP6_mm.jpg

It looks like they should match up well with the older x5 and x6 LEDs i have! And i know they will be a lot brighter, plus have a wider beam to more evenly illuminate the marker.

I went back and checked prices - looks like the older ones are roughly 1/2 the price, and work. Or the TWO newer options will be much brighter and you can opt for whichever you like (one is a buck cheaper).

So that's the side markers... I'll pull the same for the next one on your list.

For the FRONT CORNER MARKERS (on a 60! - see spooks rec for a 62 on page 3)

I've used both the 67-x15 and 67-x9 in white. I've also used a regular 1156 bulb which i really liked. I like how it illuminates the corners while pulling in and out of the garage, plus while running with just the parking lights on it's more visible.

So if i were to do this again, the 67-x15 and x9 both fit (also work for the license plate light).

Here's the specs on the 67-x15 ($6.95):
1156-x15_mm.jpg

I will skip the 67-x9 specs, but they are ($4.99) for comparison. I really prefer the x15 of these two unless the extra $ is an issue.

An alternative (not sure if will fit yet) is the 1156xW24 in white ($12.99):
1156-x24.jpg

A Higher output option - BA15 3W ($16.95):
1156-xLX3_mm.jpg

i think the 1156xw24 will fit, but it's 1" wide vs 3/4" wide of the x15... So it might be worth trying, for the extra light, or get the 3W alternative which will definitely fit and is brighter (but more expensive of course).

So that's the front corner markers.

Interior DOME and CARGO lights:

Alright - i've tried a ton of options here. I've used George's taskLED's (great btw!), and have now moved to the following:

Dome light - currently using the 3022xHP2 ($6.95). This works great and shouldn't need much if any mod to fit.
3022-WHP2_mm.jpg

Cargo light - 3710xHP6 ($14.95). This ROCKS! Super bright and really illuminates the entire cargo area. Spook has modded the Dome to accept this (a lot of bending to squeeze it in) so i will be using this soon.

I wouldn't mess with ANY of the smaller festoon lights - a waste of time and $. Too dim - the above HP ones will be MUCH nicer.

That's the interior lights.

EDIT - here's Spooks info on the HP6 fitting the dome light:
The dome light works great. It does take quite a bit if finagling to get it in there though. If you've already got George's LED installed you're halfway there since you had to remove the heat shield to install it. I had to widen the gap between the contacts as much as possible, and it's still a tight fit for the 37mm festoon, but I did manage to get it to fit. It's probably the most difficult to install out of all the LEDs (this includes the bit of grinding I had to do for the gauge lights), but it works great. It's a nice, clean white light. And it's bright as HELL at night. If my eyes are adjusted to the dark and I open the door once I get to my truck, it's almost blinding for a few seconds. I dig it

Well John - hope that helps you and anyone else stumbling across this looking at LED options/upgrades.

If you are a LED geek like me:rolleyes: - also check out the cigarette lighter flashlight they have. Works great and a great x-mas gift for the cruiserhead on your list!

Good luck!!

Thanks for your help! I ordered everything that was on my list basically, I ordered the 3022xhp2 festoon for the dome, should fit with no mod as I checked with a caliper. Also ordered the 3710xhp3 (hope I didn't waste my money on that one but I just wanted a direct snap in and it has to be brighter than the stock light which I rarely use anyways)
Ordered the side markers (WLED xhp5) in amber and red as posted and the 67x15.
Will let you know how they are.
thanks!

The 3710xHP3 will fit for sure. 8$ vs 15$, i'd personally still go with the HP6 in the cargo (my .02). But it should be a huge improvement even with only 3!

Good luck - if you get pics pre and post install please post them up for people to see the improvement.

OK, I think it is time for a complete LED upgrade part number list for 60 and 62. Every stinkin' bulb in the truck... Anyone?

Tofudebeest - i thought that was what this was?

you want ALL lights? just dash? tail lights and side lights? Interior lights(both domes)?

it's all here - just pick the path you want to go (some are brighter but more $).

...just ordered the 3022xhp2 and 3710xhp3 for my interior lights. Can't wait to actually use them. I've pretty much just had them set to off since I've owned the truck.

Sorry for the late reply! Just wanted to let everyone know how the lights turned out for me. See post 100 for what I ordered.
The front markers are really great, the interior lights are more then bright enough (don't fit perfectly inside domes but close enough), huge difference!
As for the side markers, they are brighter, but not a huge improvement.

As for side markers - i really want to try the new HP ones they have above... xHP5 or xHP6's. My goal for those wasn't really extra brightness, but rather longevity and less heat. The heat kills the plastic till it crumbles and they burn out a lot sooner than LEDs!

I still recommend the 6 bulb 3710-xHP6 over the 3 bulb 3710-xHP3 for the REAR Cargo light.

It's pretty amazing how much it helps illuminate the entire back when you are loading/unloading crap. I'm sure the 3bulb is an improvement over stock, but it fits the 6 bulb just the same.

Anyway - maybe next payday i'll grab a pair of the side marker HP's and try them out. I'll get pics of course, but low priority right now.

HTH!

Just ordered the dash upgrades!!!!! wew hew!!!

Thanks sl33py!

Hey Alaska!

Cool - which did you get and what color?

Love the pics of your fresh 60!!! Maybe post up a pic or two when you get these done here? Plus maybe just a poser pick of that gorgeous truck in general just for the hell of it...

Glad this helped others. If someone can post pre-post pics of the 3 or 6 bulb dome and cargo upgrades that would be appreciated. I don't think i have a stock bulb anymore to compare pics of...

Tom - good choices. The xLX's will be a tight fit. Remove the plastic shrinkwrap on the bottom and may needs some filing to get it to fit. Should be pretty secure when you get it in though. With the shrinkwrap boot on the bottom i had one pop off into the guage... got it out, but FYI.

I've been driving the 87 w/ the bright blinkers - damn near a seizure when i use my blinkers... glad someone learned from my lesson. I think the brighter HP for the warning lights is especially needed when you run the LX gauge lights. I think it might be too easy to miss compared to the gauges otherwise.

Damn good job w/ that cruiser. Get your dome/cargo lights next.

if you want to do the heater controls red - use the HP2 bulb (same as dome) w/ some red theater light gel behind the heater panel. If you want some of mine PM me. I have it somewhere and am EXTREMELY slow sending it ... just forewarning you!

I gave the one i did to a fellow mudder when we met for lunch a couple months back... I need to redo mine now. Wasn't sure if one or two layers got the red close to matching...

Glad I could contribute - thx guys!

OK, stupid question. I've searched and I must be missing it -
How do I remove the front panel in front of the guages in my 62? I pulled out the screws above the radio and around the guage cluster... bud it isn't budging - do I need to remove my dash pad or am I missing something. I pulled 8 screws out total so far....

any help or links is appreciated. I have the FSM and I can't find it in there (which really means it should be painfully obvious....)

Thanks
Koby
