Leaky water pump

Water pump is leaking coolant, do I replace the water pump and gasket or do I try to replace just the gasket?

FWIW - If you are going to go to the trouble of replacing just the water pump gasket, I'd go ahead and replace the water pump as well. Also, if you run a fan clutch, it is suggested at the same time to replace that as well....Be sure to research this, as there are a few tips and tricks to this process.

Agree with the above. Replace the water pump, gasket, and all of the bolts and washers that secure the pump to the engine. By this time the bolts are likely rusted and fragile. Some may even break in the process of removal.

if you run a fan clutch

You can 'rebuild' the fan clutch also. Basically, replacing the viscous oil.

Often times the bearing seal goes and coolant leaks from the weap hole. If that's the case, it will require a rebuild or replacement.
