LC200 Rear Tailgate Cargo Interior Light DIY - Total Cost $26+tax

Edit: I see now this kit is replicating the light kit referenced in the OP. I was wrong in assuming it was referring to our rear exit switch/handle kit that uses OE parts. Fridays :D
Can you use your rear hatch kit as well as a light kit like this on the same rear hatch? Trying to decide which is more important to me. Not enought room in that access panel, i wondered about mounting both switches in the access panel and the light just outside of it nearby.

Well it came. And of course it doesn’t fit on my 2011 land cruiser. Last picture is my plug on the cruiser.

Someone in the LC200 Facebook group got it working:

Hmm wonder what year his is. Supposedly if you have a newer one it will work. Power gate. Mines an 2011. What’s the fb group?
His is a 2020-21. Makes me wonder if it wouldn't work on my 2016 also, since it doesn't have a power gate.

Nope you will need to route wires to dome light.

Did this awhile ago but not sure I've shared.

Multi-point hatch lights for even lighting without shadows, even when standing under the center hatch lights. The LX has the benefit of already having the side hatch light stock. I prefer light elements that are diffuse and not overly bright so they don't destroy night vision. Added a switch so I can turn these off when car camping and leaving the hatch open. Learned that lesson once and resorted to electrical tape over the lights.

4x of these low profile marker lights, easily mounted in 1/2" holes

Wired in a Baja Designs Dome Light to the lift gate button wires using two posi-locks. Works great, nice and bright. The amber color is yellow. I drilled into the small access cover for the light mounting bolts and one small hole for the power wires. The BD dome light has its own built in power button, so no additional switch needed. Also, light goes out automatically when the door is closed.

View attachment 2844051So I wanted a rear hatch light that was supper low profile and that looked as OEM as possible. I emailed VLEDS and they were kind enough to create a link for a single puddle light and adapter (6”) for my application. $32 + s/h later and and 5 minute instal and I think it turned out awesome!

This is perfect. Just ordered the light but will be using it with a push button switch.

Looks great ! Where did you attach to get power?

Ordered! Thanks @Gr8Daneger, but curious where you tapped into power also.

I used the 6” tap extension and went directly to the thick black and red wires on the hatch button. They have extra long extension to run elsewhere in the truck if need be. No splicing needed, the duotap is perfect (you need pliers to close). It’s easier to reach in and pop out the hatch button to release the wire than try to pull the wire out otherwise. It also doesn’t mater on the duotap what wire (red/black) goes where.

I put one of these in my 40. Works great. Think I got it on amazon it does white and green. Thinking about mounting one like you did in this thread but mine is an '08 and not sure where to tap into power. One nice thing about this one is that the switch is built in.

I only found constant power at rear cargo light and tapped that for hot and took ground off 3rd brake light in my 08

were you able to fish the wire through the factory rubber wire loom?

Yes I was. You're talking about thru the rubber grommet you can see when you open the hatch right?
