This thread is the most informative thread I have read and been (albeit to a limited degree) involved with in a long time. I am fairly handy in terms of building stuff, built a shed within building code, with windows and an air-conditioner/heater; tons of fences and decks, currently building a wall in my home, ect.
However, electricity and automotive more of a novice. Also, drilling into a $85K vehicle kind of makes me nervous. So advice, pictures and directions are good for me. Generally, and even my wife will agree that, I can follow simple directions most of the time.
As to pricing, I ordered the lights that were referenced in the original post. I don't mind paying for leg work and creative content, within reason. But I have seen similar things on other threads on lighting, so I didn't think the mark-up was worth it to me and agreed with the original poster of this thread. Ordered the light (red) and switch, no sweat. They are here.
Then, started thinking that while I am in there might want the push-button open on the door as well. I recalled the thread and looked at the content for sourcing and assimilating the kit. It seemed a bit more involved, and this thread bears that out, time is money. I went back and forth a few times with Squirrel and Cruiser Brothers as the feasibility. Decided that it was worth a gamble and that the work done by Cruiser Brothers was a bargain to get it on one simple package, to me. Others may differ as to the value of the kit and thats fine if they have the time to kill but to me, I think it was worth it.
I ordered mine Tuesday of this week and it is out for delivery today with USPS from Cruiser Brothers. It is not just the actual button, but the template and directions on installation that will be useful. Additionally, the thought process in assembly of the component parts that will be of assistance to me. I will post pictures of the install, unless I screw it up, if there is interest. Should be able to get it done this week-end
