Kurt, would you run a part time conversion here in Utah? I guess we really don't get much snow these days so might not be too much of a hassle.

Totally, I run a bunch of part-time rigs (my 40, 74, etc). My old 100 will be getting a PT conversion soon too. Every Land Cruiser up to the 80 Series was part-time from the factory so it's not exactly like it's an issue in Utah or otherwise :D

Now, if you've got the Mrs or kids driving it to school all the time, the full-time rocks. Spend lots of time driving snowy/icy road, the full-time rocks. For those that want to reduce CV wear, change up the handling and performance a bit, part-time great option.

I'm tempted! I miss the part time on my Tacoma. Didn't think about it much since I didn't have to leave the cab to engage it

And most Tacoma's dont have a true part-time, while they disconnect the front diff with the ADD, they are still spinning the CV's. There are factory part Tacoma's with hubs (96-04) and aftermarket kits for the 05+ Tacoma but unless you had that, you were still spinning a bunch of parts. With our 80 and 100 kits, you eliminate the spin on the axle components too!

I am not sure that I understand how part time 4wd would be preferable with snowy/icy roads. Could you please enlighten a fool such as myself?

Fascinating, good to know!

Sorry, I was all over the place. The part about the Mrs & kids was in reference to full-time rocking. I've updated my posts to eliminate confusion :D

Kurt-any further development on a locking hub to fit the stock CV axle? Had I not recently installed new CV's your kit with modded outers would have been perfect.

Cool, thanks for the reply! Ha ha I was hoping that there was something about the kit I wasn't quite understanding that would make it more ideal for this. I am really working to justify the purchase. This would be ideal on a vehicle with a supercharger...

Still a work in progress but no definite timeline. Our 2 current offerings are selling very well so we are looking at the stock CV option more to have on-the-shelf solutions given we can't keep the current full-cv replacement kits in stock :D

how much work is involved with installing the spool?

3-4 hours of labor under the vehicle, doable in a driveway, easier on a lift :D

It is VERY helpful to eliminate the viscous torque-steer that SC'd 100's get.

I'm in the same boat as abuck, having just replaced both axles with new yota ones but would love a kit with selectable hubs to fit the stock axles and a spool.

I've done this same conversion to a AMC quadratrac system in a CJ7 which used a similar viscous coupler in the transfer case that gets replaced with a spool. It made a huge difference in driveability.

I did find a video from down under showing how easy it is to swap the spool in.

Expected everything to get here today but it came in Monday! Had a few things lined up on the lift so I wasn’t able to start until just now. Finished up a lift on a new JL and am about to tear into it and get this swap done! I’ll post pictures as I go.

Sweet!

Can't wait for my check from Uncle Sam next year so I can order this kit. My upgrade budget for 2018 is about $0 right now :(
