Also, you only need to use:

27 for the trigger
39 and 40 for the RCA

Fit super well under passenger seat after removing OEM amp. Going around the factory stuff was the best/easiest path forward than splicing into the harness.

I found a camera on Amazon, and mounted inside the cabin at the top of the rear hatch in the plastic cover panel. Keeps it sheltered from weather [no wiping off!] and works great to see behind me.

Can you post pictures?

I can't readily find them at the moment. I effectively pulled out the navigation 'drive', leaving the containing metal structure. The amp was then settled in and used hardware to afix. Was happy with the results frankly. The size was a perfect fit for the 'enclosure' to ensure it didn't fly around once mounted.

Richard,

That's not the Television Camera ECU. From that part number, it's an amplifier.

The "box" you are looking for is small. It's called Computer Parking Assist. It's under the NAV DVD.

Here's a picture of my NAV DVD and Computer Parking Assist out the truck.

The wires for the Computer Parking Assist are in the front. You should see them from the front of the PS seat.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much! I've gotten the backup camera to work!

For anyone who is wondering how to do it, I wrote this in response to a request for help

Hello Mud Community,

Over the last 9 months there has been some great headway made on the ZhiFang 12.1" Tesla style touchscreen radio with integrated climate controls. There are a few dedicated threads to specific installs and I figured it was about time to create a general discussion forum as lots of good install info if getting buried in these threads.

For those of you who have not seen this yet it seems to have started here: Tesla style head unit - has anyone seen this?

Specific installation experiences have been documented here:
Successfully installed a Tesla Style headunit into a 2005 LX470
"Tesla Style" found for older LX470/LC100
2003 LC Tesla Screen Install Write-Up

Here is what they look like: ( mistered123 I hope you're ok with me snagging your pics for reference)

The quad core units were the first batch to come out late last year. Part #s are ZF-1301S. These used Android 7.1 and (once the wiring issues were worked out) they worked pretty well. Overall the hardware and OS where described as a little clunky, but a definite improvement over the original touch screen radios and cassette decks.

The six core units (PX6) are the latest batch out as a release of this post and are pretty good. Part # for the LC version is ZF-1301X. These are not showing up on the ZhiFang website yet, but they have ZhiFang's name on them. They look to have the same cables as the original quad core units but have worked through most of the wiring issues. Interfaces are crisp and fast with the only general complaint is the amount of time it takes to start up once you turn your key on. This is typically around 20 seconds. AC controls work great and utilize existing Toyota circuit boards as part of your original radio.

I'd like to send out BIG thanks to mistered123, LX470MK, Swainbuilt, Wetwillie, revoked, loeky, Ell Ex & all the others that have contributed so far with testing and Q&A.

These units are sold by a variety of online resellers, but they seem to be made by one manufacturer in China. They don't come with assembly or operations instructions...AND the technical support is lacking. Some have been buying from a US based radio shop, but it sounds like they were just buying these radios in bulk from China. Here is where you can find the PX6 chip set radios online for purchase:
The only thing I can tell different between the LX and LC versions is the additional side trim for the air vents as the LX trim tends to be in three pieces (one running the full width of the cassette deck) and the LC already has the appropriate vents.

Ell Ex has done a successful full install of the PX6 (6 core) units with Android in a 2006 LX470 with ML amp and custom apps. I'm in the middle of a full amp and speaker replacement with a 2004 LX470 and the PX6 unit. A few others have been working on 2003 and older installs. I've heard of a few people wanting to try these with non-nav (dedicated AC control version) 100 series trucks, but have not seen one yet.

The 2004 and newer seem to be plug and play for cables (once you figure out where they all go). There seem to still be a few extra plugs left over (3 in my case) that may have been part of the factory test.

The 2003 and older units are needing either another harness from the manufacturer or a few wire splices to work. There was a request for the "Top Model" wire harness for these truck to avoid splicing, but I cannot confirm its the final solution.

No confirmations I can find yet for getting the factory backup camera working. I'm looking at installing a new HD camera now to replace the 16 year old factory one. One in the back and one up front hopefully.

I am hoping to write up a first draft of an installation guide for my experiences on a full amp replacement and am willing to share with others to alter for 2003 and older versions as well as ML integrations/tips/tricks.

My hope is that this can be a source for good general information on the radio installs, applications, mods and troubleshooting and the model specific threads can serve those specific needs without getting cluttered with off topic discussions.

Hope you all find this helpful. I'll try to get my install guide uploaded soon.
PLEASE ADD YOUR EXPERIENCES AND COMMENTS.

I have been told that GPS Navigation Control Module (Part# 86841-50090) needs to be replaced. The touch screen itself still functions (mostly) but is malfunctioning due to the "Control Module" failing. Would a tesla screen be replacing the existing Control Module to include the screen or would it just be changing the touchscreen interface? Thanks in advance

Rhino Radios has a pre '03 non-nav version of this now. So far everything ok, but my CDL isn't working, I'm working on troubleshooting it.
Did you ever get the CDL to work? I can’t figure out how to wire it. There doesn’t seem to be any direct connector?

Does someone have a recommendation for handling glare on these screens?
Reach out to Matt Johnson on Facebook. He's been doing this for a lot of folks with good results. The angle of the screen in the LC100 is worse that other vehicles, admittedly, but it does help and also works with polarized lenses. It will however not be 'perfect' given the OEM flat angle to the driver.

[I bought one, this is my experience. I also did Sergey's firmware from Tesla Style. Firmware and HeadUnits - https://www.facebook.com/groups/tesla.style.FW.HU]

I found Matt’s protectors (and another matte protector I tried) wash out in strong light and as a result didn’t really help. Could be bc the glare from the ivory color interior in my lx.

I ended up searching out a clear anti-reflective protector. $30 or so custom cut (but you need to tell them to cut on a bias to avoid polarization issues). This is the same tech the military uses on handheld devices in the field and museums use to avoid glare (at least that’s what they told me). Really pleased with the result. The reflections are still there but rescued so as not to interfere with viewing the screen.

Just got my 99 LC 100 3 dial AC installed with PX6. Thanks to this forum, the install was relatively easy and everything works with the exception of the CDL and my hazards won't turn off. In the my version of the LC, you have to unscrew the ac circuit board box from the back of the console and remove several connectors from the dials. In this case, the instructions differ from BigLittle. The 99 use the low and medium tie line to connect to AC Circuit board and the canbus. There is also a small tieline to the hazard and CDL button circuit board This tieline then plugs into a connector on the AC unit side of the canbus.

Anyone have any luck on getting the CDL to work. I'll trade how to make a 99LC 100 work for this information :)

Anyone have issues with their speakers sounding rattley? Almost like the foam itself is bad even though its fine? Not sure if its the speaker or the tesla unit, but my speakers were put in with new foam 6ish months ago.

I went with this Kenwood, it’s a good size to mount where your nav computer was under the passenger seat:

Kenwood Excelon X802-5

I used my factory camera, several others have written up how to do this. Basically you need to run an RCA with trigger wire from the HU to the inputs on that controller which is also under seat.

Tucker
Did you run new wires to the speakers?

What's everyones solution for the poor fitting side vent trim? Neither the yellow or white clips fit the tesla screen holes on the bottom.

I just bought my 04 and would like to do this mod. I have read all the posts in this thread and others as well. I reached out to szklyde.com for assistance before buying. Was asked to send a picture of my dash and they came back and said I needed this one. Android 9 car radio for LC100 VXR 2005 - https://www.szklyde.com/toyota-android-car-dvd/57663673.html I am not sure this is what I am needing for my LC. I responded asking if they are sure and was told that is the correct one.

I am pretty sure that is incorrect.

Yeah that is what I told them.. I guess it will be the Phoenix Audio version.

That one only replaces the touch screen, you want the 12.1” PX6...most people go with the Phoenix Audio version but there are others out there too ...

How does one find the yellow clips that secure the center console for the three ac dial center?
