The high battery is probably a good idea if it's not very well sealed. If you haven't seen the news stories out of florida. A number of electric vehicles that were in salt water and ended up with salt being deposited inside the batteries. When the water dries up the salt concentrates and creates a short in the battery. And they are catching on fire. At least a couple of Tesla's and a few others have done that. And it doesn't happen until multiple weeks after the flooding event.

I think this trends to point to the 4Runner having the 3rd row for the USA market.
Nice find!

This was back when everyone expected new 4runner, LC, and Tundra models back in 2017. Lol.
Oh how different things could have been!

Maybe worth noting - the GX with the hybrid has a 3rd row.

And it share front suspension with the LC250 (front sway bar behind the front axle vs in front like eKDSS).
Might just be the graphics/marketing guy pulled the wrong interior image to overlay. Seems to me the battery and the third row need to occupy the same space. Doesn’t matter to me I don’t need or want a 3rd row

Also here’s the official source for those images, and more (most of which have been posted already)

You're thinking about it all wrong. Toyota's solid state battery development was really a misnomer to hide the fact that they're developing flexible state batteries. Where Tesla is pushing for structural batteries, Toyota is moving to comfort batteries. The seat bottom IS the battery! Bonus - free heated seat! :)

My friend saw toyota engineers visiting a well known shop in Qatar. They work on many vehicles but mostly 300s.

They were checking what locals have been doing to deal with overheating issues they have been facing with the twin 6.

They usually come to Qatar to inspect abuse of rigs and visit every once in a while, because the average used lc300 here sees abuse that other 300s in other regions won't be seeing for years to come.

300 section is dead so figured I'd share this here.

Photos from the visit

Never did I think I'd appreciate Toyota the way I do. Didn't think there were any car companies out there doing these things.

Things are heating up now as well
Nissan is months away from launching the y63 Patrol
It's expected to hit the market around the same time as the 2024 Prado. Two big launches at the same time.

The LC and Patrol are always a couple of years or so apart in terms of updates. So if this launches in Q2 2024. We are looking at LC300 facelift not long after (usually 1.5/2years) difference.

It's great that Toyota's out doing that. But what were they doing for the last 20 years? Toyota could have had another entire generation of Land Cruiser between then and now. Overheating on the V35A should have been worked out about a decade ago.

I'd bet real money that they ALL do it all of the time. Some (all / most) also buy each other's vehicles to take them apart.

But LOL at them taking pictures and notes of Kings shocks as if they discovered something new.

They always visit and have been dune bashing on 200s with king shocks/stock for years now.
Not those specific guys but you get what I mean Toyota engineers/guys in general.
They always visit countries.

The guys that come always end up being shocked by how crazy these get driven.

Also for sure benchmarking has been happening ever since these vehicles came to existence.

A fierce Patrol/LC rivalry is always good for us the consumers.

They had the Geneva motorshow in Qatar today.
No LC250 on display sadly but they had this.

They locally launched cruiser base. The first branch outside of Japan.
I think more will follow in different countries.

This is from the Japanese instagram page so you get an idea what cruiser base is.

Interested to see how this idea develops and what may come of it in the future and if they can attract locals who mod cars in other shops and keep them in house.

Next stage should include suspension mods or so I was told..
