Hey shipmate. What was your rate?
I haven’t been shipmated in a minute! I was a MA, MWD flavor.Hey shipmate. What was your rate?
Clue me in... what's a snake blinder? My FJ60 had factory snake blinders.
A trade off I'll take to ditch the carb for twin turbos.
MWD?
Hi there, sorry to beat a dead horse- but… I actually LOVE the split tailgate. I drove 4Runners until 1) I couldn’t get my twins’ car seats and the big kids in at the same time and 2) the new ones went to a lift gate; I have since had 3 qty 100 series (still have two of them) and actually use the split gate, like I used the drop gate on the 4Runner. I live/work on a horse farm and lift gates make absolutely NO sense… You go out in a field with one up, whilst stilling on the bumper to put out hay or bring horses in (obviously someone else driving) and you’ll both get bonked in the head with a lift gate and you’ll spook your livestock. I have these vehicles because they solve a lot of problems: troop carriers, daily drivers and farm vehicles. No missing the forest here…I was being completely sarcastic.
My biggest peeve on this forum (or any other) are the armchair warriors that nitpick every decision that the manufacturer makes. No Panoroof. No split tailgate. No 70-series for the miniscule amount of people that *might* buy one. WahWahWah
And all are “dealbreakers”…yeah, because otherwise these guys would rush right out and drop $100k.
Toyota is the biggest and most successful auto manufacturer in the world. But somehow bubba knows better.

I like the split gate too. Have one on my 80 and love it when out in the field using it as a shelf, seat, place to work on things. I guess the lift gate is ok around town, but I don’t mind putting a few bags or groceries or case of beer over the tailgate in my 80. I wish I had that option on my 250. Also hate the beeping every time it opens and closes.Hi there, sorry to beat a dead horse- but… I actually LOVE the split tailgate. Yes, I am one who would rush out and drop $$$ on the RIGHT vehicle, and went to look at the 550/250 as I’m in Maine and my 100s are starting to need more TLC than my 63 yr old soul can handle right now (don’t have time with farm and dealing with elderly parents)… but that lift gate was a deal breaker. Now I just gotta find a really good mechanic…
Toyota forgot that some of us are actually out there using these beasts.
<sorry… I had to rant… I went yesterday to test drive the new ones and started to cry when I saw the lift gate>
We used to laugh when we got our first Hundy… referred to it as the world’s most expensive changing table- but man that saved our butts numerous times on long road trips when the twins were in diapers- it was the right height and we were protected from the elements!I like the split gate too.
