wow, that looks like quite a upgrade

Yeah, it just so happens that the previous owner is a Mopar guy and just wanted to see my boat in his garage

He plans on putting a hitch on one of his matching Plum Crazy Purple cars and towing it to shows lol

Wow what an awesome boat and pics. It just dwarfs the 80. I don't know much about towing, but I do know the 80 is far underrated for what it can do. You have a frame and suspension and axles that are 1 ton rated in the rest of the world. As far as engine power, the biggest trucks in the old days made half the power of the 80 series. It's all about gearing. And low range should be fine.

The one area that might concern me is the transmission. I've noticed that while the Toyota tranny runs extremely cool 99% of the time, they do seem to get hot rather quickly when towing heavy loads, up hills, etc, probably underconditions that the torque converter is not locked up.

Now you have something that burns more gas than your Cruiser...... I bet 30+ gallons per hour when you're on it.

By the way if your old boat had a real 426 Hemi in it the motor was worth a "boatload" of cash. ;)

It was originally powered by a 426, but the original owner said it was too heavy for the hull, so he replaced it with a lighter, more powerful, built 440

Put $500 into it (2-tone Raptor bedliner inside/out, moon discs, Summit Brat style rear seats, wiper blades, emblems, stickers, etc.), then threw it on Craigslist

Traded it straight up for the purple boat

So basically, with the amount of money I have into everything, I couldn't even buy the trailer alone for the big boat :grinpimp:

I think I really like that Mitsubishi...was it actually 4WD? Looked kind of cool if you ask me. I wouldn't be towing the Chapparel with the 80...to much boat and "if" you have an accident, I don't think Johnny Cochran (if he were still alive) himself could get you out of the legel mess you would have. Just my thought and I've towed a lot of boats (big and small)...a lot of miles...just not with my 80.

Yep

4WD w/Low Range T-Case :)

Here's a link to the old Craigslist ad with videos showing what it's capable of

Mitsubishi MiniCab KEI Mini Truck 4WD Off-Road (Low miles)

Trust me, I won't be towing it anywhere with my 80

The PO pulled it back to my shop with a Dodge Dually (Cummins) and the boat was throwing it all over the highway

I don't even have a Class 3 hitch :o (just a custom adjustable height pintle mount)

I'm already looking to unload it cause it's just way to big for me to handle :meh:

Either quick cash or trade for a smaller boat I can use :)

I'd really like a 23ish CC with twin OB's, but I'm practially searching Craigslist for anything that might spark my interest :hhmm: (hot rods, musclecars, etc.)
