Agree with the treadless comment for **most of the Moab** trails. I would pay to see someone with treadless/slicks attempt a rainy TOTW run, That would be some funny s***
Actually, slick rock with a little rain = sand paper, locals say you get even more traction. Not sure how much rain that means but a bit of moisture def = more grip than dry dusty slick rock.

Have you been up TOTW? If you want to run slick KO2s up it in the rain I will be more than happy to video record it - just let me know

Yes. My bad. Forgot Trail Grapplers had been discussed. Didn’t mean to lump those with the others—rather the talking about Pro comp, KO2 debate, etc. Agree 100%... trail Grapplers are about as close to mud tires as you can get without going full mud.
Pro Comp MT2s are great in mud as well - just sayin

The truth is that we're all hard on our tires. Outside of military applications, it's a challenge to find vehicles (other than 100 series trucks, maybe) that are run as hard as ours at the vehicle weights we tend to run at. I imagine every 200 with armor is at least at GVWR if not a-bit-to-well over. You don't see heavily-laden Earthroamers, Mogs, Pinz, etc. doing 70 mph in the dirt in Baja, running HITR, Moab 6s and 7s, etc.

Personally, I'm surprised we see so few tire issues on the trail as it is.

Ya. Even with thick, stinky, nasty water in Hell’s Revenge bathtubs...you still drive right out...(see below)...so even wet it’s still pretty dang sticky for “slick rock.”

Sheesh. Guess I needed to read more carefully! Thought it was an AT discussion more than MT.

We did that the first year... massive rain and thunderstorm almost all the way up. It was like driving through a waterfall. Everyone made it without much drama. I can't find my pics but Kreiten had a bunch of good ones. Fun trail in the rain!

Heh... :)

I think my goofy post got us off track a bit...

I really like TOTW - I can't think of a trail that I have ran with a better end destination. I asked the girls how many of your friends have ever driven up the TOTW trail? Pretty cool when you think about it. I would guess <10k trucks have been there historically. I am going to see if I can find out when the trail head opened. I would also say that our crew is some of the first up it with 200s. I have not seen any other 200 Series poser shots outside of our crew

TOTW really does have a finish like no other. First time up was alone, and just a lift + sliders (AKA @kreiten style)...

Is it known if anyone has accidentally gone over the edge at that spot? I'm sitting here thinking about that this spot and all I can think about is accidentally hitting the gas instead of the brake pedal...lol

I know there was a 4x4 death on Gemini Bridges but I have never heard of any issue on TOTW. It is a dicey spot and does take a little work getting the poser shot. Thankfully I had a great spotter :) @steenh

@Romer and I did TOTW in our 200s two Cruise Moab’s ago, and I’ve run it in 2 different 200s over the last 3 years. The trail is a lot busier than you’d expect, but you guys did it in the hottest part of the summer where traffic is likely the least. It’s part of the Kokopelli trail and gets quite a bit of traffic in spring and fall.

I'll look for more pics and some video I have from Cruise Moab 17, but here is my last truck going down the backside of TOTW:

Here's a pic of our crazy rain/lighting adventure on TOTW trail...

I did it with my two daughters in their trucks

Same year woody spotted me up Hells Gate

This year we did Steele Bender which has gotten WAY harder since I last ran it 10 years ago. mark and I did the whole trail, but wouldn't recommend it.

Here is a thread on the local Colorado forum on how it changed from 2008 to 2018. I do not plan on running it again

Now back to Kreiten's 2018 LCDC photos and technical discusion

When I drove out onto it for that photo...I was alone...no spotter(!!!). My left front tire was less than a foot from the edge.

When it came time to back up again, I shot a video as I did it...literally talking through “hand brake...reverse...double check reverse...” etc. seriously creepy being literally at the edge. My passenger side was a bit farther back at an angle, but front driver right at the edge.

I’m sure someday it will break...maybe taking one of us with it...!:meh:

Porcupine Rim is also a very scenic spot. Did you guys go there? Not as much fun as a trail as TOTW, but a pretty picture spot with the Mtns in the background. haven't gone there with my 200 yet
