Right behind (mauka of) the Makapu’u lighthouse is Koko Head, and the Koko Head stairs. A place no 4x4 will go. 1100’ elevation gain in about 1 mile overground.

I used to use it as a conditioning hike for the Scout Troop. (I was SM for Troop 101 in Hawaii Kai for 7 years. We met about 1/4 mile from the base of the stairs. Oahu’s only public shooting range is in the same complex.)

You know you're old when you just paid 10x as much for a new refrigerator as you paid for your first car. Of course, there's 55 years in between. '48 Chevy coupe, red with splashes of primer, white/red tuck and roll interior with "Love Buggy" inscribed on the dash, '52 GMC big six with dual 2-barrel carbs and glass packs. $185 out the door off the way-back row at the local Chevy dealer. My mother loved it!

Ran across a similar one at the body shop where the wife’s fj62 was in the shop for paint.
