Awesome work, will be reworking my front end to drop it down in this matter. It wont be a DD any more so I might get a little crazy with it...

Again great work!

Nice clean work Kavik! My hats off to you for doing it this heat.
Some questions:)
Estimated cost of SOA?
Pinion angle set up - DC shafts?
How far did you push the front axle forward?
Did you push the rear axle back?
Do you plan to run sway bars?

Thanks...

Truck gets about 3 good hours of shade in the afternoon:cool:

Hi-steer(full kit), perches, hangers, u-bolts, brakelines - about $600+ (still need shocks and driveshaft mods $$$$$)

No cut & turn - stock pinion angle

Moved the axle forward about 1" at full compression(room for 37's), sweeps forward at droop.

Rear axle stock hangers/location

I forgot to weld the sway bar mounts back on the front axle. I want to make one of those locking hub sway bars anyways (Aisin hub, mini IFS torsion bar, etc):D

I wanted soooooo badly to take her to the Sonic meet on Friday, but her tags are bad and she rides like a drunkard with no shocks:beer::beer::beer:

that rocks kavic. fine looking build and rig you have there. i am really liking the fact that the body is stright and not hacked on to make room for the lift and tires.

Funny you mention making room. I've got good news and bad news. While taking some poser shots, I learned some things.

The good news...She looks like fun

It won't steer passed the rear part of the fender/bolts when stuffed.

And she's got a killer lean to the driver's side.

Looks like the driver side rear pack needs some help already.

Official welcome to the club!

Looks great, what is the measurement from the ground to center of headlight?

Right on, thanks man.

No longs for now. I'll probably run stock till she breaks.

How do you like your D-tech shocks? Did you get them online? I'm trying to figure out what to use...

As far as cutting the frame, not as spooky as it seems. Having the right parts to play with(ruffstuff & 4+;)) and mocking up over and over builds confidence.

I kinda pussed out on the rear, and I may end up doing some surgery on the rear hangers as well. I'm having to run the rear springs very flat to get the truck level.

I'm going to bag the add-a-leaf in the rear and reinstall all of the stock(sagging) springs to bump up the load capacity. Right now it's very mushy back there.

ooooo me likey

Yes, I got the Doetsch Tehcs on line, and I really like em so far. The thing to do, is get the pricing on line, then CALL them direct and order em...I forget the details, but you get a better break price wise by doing that, but make sure you have the internet price in front of you! There a bit on the stiffer side, which is what I was after to begin with!
AAAAND, theyre a great deal!

Seriously,
Youre doing a great job!

Chicago

I like how you painted your rims. Low mount SR looks great!

Thanks for the kind words fellas...

Picked up some trick metric banjo fittings to re-route the soft lines to the caliper. I am planning on running the front shock behind the axle, and the brake line sweeps into this area at full lock. I got them from Parker Hydraulics. I'll post up the pics and part #'s later.

Also scored some used Rancho shocks (thanks yldbill;)). They are a longshot to fit correctly, but we'll see. I'm really leaning towards the Doetsch Tech 8000's like Chicago is using.

Also on deck is a notched transmission crossmember (thanks BMAN:D). For those of you that don't know, the drive shaft will contact the crossmember at droop. It must be clearanced via a notch or u-shaped cut out.

And, I bartered again w/ yldbill to spin me up a front driveshaft spacer. A spacer is not my plan A solution. But I'm going to give it a try and post up the results. Keep in mind, new driveshafts are on the horizon when I put in the doubler. So, I'm just being a cheapskate for now...

I really can't wait to get her back on the trail!

edit - Oh yea, BMAN if you are watching this thread, I have your notched crossmember:flipoff2::D:o:doh:

Not much to report...

But I did install these cool banjo fittings to the calipers. I got them from Parker Hydraulics. Most of the parts came from Brakequip (crush washers are Fragola). Now I have room to tack the lower shock mount below the brake fitting (flush w/ the bottom of the axle). Previously, the soft line would have crashed into the shock. I bought new hardline to be bent up, but I'm going to wait to route it till after everything is set...

I've got a crazy idea to cut the flare out of the stock fender and move it up as far as I can. I plan to cut the rockers all the way out, as they are torn to s*** anyways. I think w/ some careful welding and some body filler, it may actually look decent.
