I just picked up my first J78 Prado and have found this thread to be really informative! I likely am going to have head gasket (hopefully not head) issues as well… so I’m beginning to order parts. I’ll likely run a sealer in it for now to buy me some time u til the shops have availability for a full repair. Next time I’m in Southern Pines for work, I’ll hit you up! I’m there a few times a year.

DON'T PUT SEALER IN........

You will kick yourself down a huge set of stairs later on if you do....

Hello,

x2.

Wait until you have the replacement parts. Do yourself a favor and check the threads about 2L-TE / 1KZ-TE head failure.

Otherwise, you are riding for a very painful fall.

If you have to drive it in the meantime, do not force the engine. If you do, let it idle to cool itself.

I’d be curious to know how many people seeing those symptoms on a 1KZ-TE or 2L-TE have actually only had gasket failure and not a cracked head. It’s got to be a very low number. If you’ve got coolant and combustion gasses mixing you’re best off planning on replacing the head, it’s almost guaranteed to be the problem.

Greetings. With your - offset wheel and tire setup and the Dobinson lift (I'm assuming 2.5") do you experience any rubbing offroad or on? I got my JDM 1994 KZJ78 last month and have everything here and ready to install except for wheels and tires as it has been a little difficult to find the exact setup that I have that you already have as far as tire size and wheel size with the -offset. I'm certain on the tire size, I'm just not sure about the correct offset yet. Thanks.

I have not experienced any rubbing on or off road with the BFG, there was a little bit at full lock left with the coopers but that was it.
