Just purchased this gem in eastern Oregon.

The 4runner did very will pulling the 40. No issues whatsoever. :)

So I got it running, driving, and registered. Still haven't done much to it except replace the carb, but that made a huge difference!

Finished the desmog, and over the next month, I'm going to fix it up with a lift kit, wheels and tires, (oem), complete new interior, all new badges and rubber, frame clean up, but leaving the external patina...

Going to drive it that way for a while and enjoy...

Nuthin' like aged to perfection mustard;)! Just something about the original look and feel...I sort of miss that but then I remember
the rattles, creaks, leaks and springs in my fanny not to mention the boiling cab in summer months. Then I am glad I modified the beast to my liking. Purists will hate, but oh well..:meh:
Pretty sweeet find !! Enjoy!

What a gem, any pictures of the engine bay? Did you rebuild the original carb or replace it with another?

It was a new carb I bought off of Amazon. Works great!

Engine bay is an original mess... :)

Please tell me your going to grind the welds on that front bumper and install the original shown in earlier pictures? I like the bracket PO made to install a antenna instead of drilling a hole in the cowl.

The front bumper is actually just bolted on thank god... pulling soon.

There are a couple extra holes but nothing major...

Ordered three pounds of this powder.
I read in another thread its a dead on match to the original pewter.

One of the things I'm going to do is powder coat everything that was pewter inside and out including the bumperettes and front bumper. Also going to powder coat all the interior parts that were black, back to gloss black, and some engine items as well..

I'm going to clean up the rusty areas like the frame with wire wheel / correseal / paint.

Thanks guys,
Forgot to mention complete new exhaust from manifold to tailpipe, retaining all the oem hangers, as well as new front windshield with new OEM weatherstrip. :)

When I buffed out the paint, I decided to treat all the rust with a coating of locktite Naval Jelly. seems to have sealed it up fairly well. Prob won't last long, but goid for now...

For the full exhaust installed, with muffler and 02 bung for TBI welded in, I paid 290... Salem exhaust . Great deal, great company.
I also paid the same for the windshield install. That included them removing the old glass, making a template and cutting and installing new glass.

I need to make a trip to Salem. My BIL and SIL live there. Do you think they’d do a full ‘63 FJ45 SWB exhaust - head to tail - for that? Did you have to have your rig there or were they able to build it off of spec?
