Not sure exactly what I’m going to do with it but it will be on the truck. I may add a hand throttle cable or a switch or two. I would like to add windshield washer and bottle so this may come in handy if I need a place for an electric switch. Thanks Mark!

Dug up a few OEM hand throttle setups I’ve stashed away. Not sure what the difference in knobs is?

These bolt just to the right and below the steering column and attach to the pedal bracket using the same accelerator cable as the pedal. Not sure if I’ll use this setup or a different cable all together.

Installed the bracket Mark sent. Used an existing hole so no new damage. We’ll see where it ends up. I connected the vent pull cable to a heater valve I installed in the engine bay.

Also installed the speedi-sleeve on the late 3 speed parking brake drum...

Also replaced the speedo gear o-rings and re-installed.

Put the speedo cable back on and the parking brake cable, drum, etc. new driveline bolts on the driveshaft.

Slow progress but checking things off the list. Enjoying the beer my grandpa drank exclusively... a PBR, while using some of his old USA made original tools passed down.

Nothing wrong with a PBR now and then. Looks good Dom.

Yes, PBR. Take it up with gramps... when you get there...

Decided to dig into the fuel filler neck replacement and ran into an issue. Hoping someone can give me some insight.

I have an OEM filler hose that I prefer not to use. I also cut a new one from a larger hose that someone posted here.

Here’s the hose suggested:

Compared to the OEM...

All 3. OEM, what’s on there now, cut down replacement...

The tank and filler don’t look to line up at all?...

The axis is too tight.

Just seems weird that it wouldn't line up. Even the setup I took off there's some overlap of the metal tubing causing the filler hose to be offset badly. I checked the location of the tank and it all seems good. Maybe the filler neck was replaced at some point?

I am guessing this is a used stock replacement tank? what did the original tank look like?

Is tank too far aft? Can it move forward a smidge?

Dom, here are a few photos that I hope will help.

First diagram: From:1965 FJ45 P-B parts book

Second diagram: From 1964 FJ45 P parts book

I also sent along two photos of my 66 FJ45 LPB. My tank line up looks like yours but not like any of the appropriate parts books.....weird.... Maybe it's the cartoon drawings.....My truck is completely stock.

Also, I'm fairly certain that there was no padding or spacers on the bottom between the tank and the well. Nothing in the parts books to indicate that. However I did use a few strips of bicycle tube under the tank when I put it back in.

I put the rubber hose on the truck inlet and worked the tank inlet onto the hose. It worked great.... Just my 2cents....

Dom,

The angles of both the tank inlet and the filler neck outlet pictured in the parts books don't meet the reality of what was delivered on the actual trucks. The 1046 hose is new and slightly thinner than the original hose material and more flexible. If you slather up the metal pipes with some Syl-glide and same inside the cut 1046 hose, there will be enough flex and rotation to finally get the hose aligned best without any kinking.

Sometimes it's also best to cut the 1046 hose a bit long on each end and slide it further up the pipes and then back down a touch. My 2 cents.

I agree with Bear, I think it will work like it is supposed to. Just looks Weird.once the tank in in place, there is not much slop as you know....not everything Toyota did was great but I'm in Love though. :)
