I decided to pull the MAF out of the box and get it cleaned up. It was well sealed and the inside looks great but the outside was super dusty...

I starting digging out the ECU’s and wiring harnesses we’ve accumulated. I have the stuff from the motor and Brett brought a couple more harnesses and another ECU. He’s offered to do all the heavy lifting on the wiring so who am I to argue!? Just need to box everything up and ship it to him.

In my digging this was in a box he brought over. MAF #2!

I started fitting this to see how it’s going to go. It will have to sit above the battery so I may have to build a bracket supported off the top battery retainer.

This is going to take some sorting out. I need to source a 3FE MAF to cone filter adapter...

Cone adapter is a standard ricer part. i pulled one of these off a ricer at the junkyard complete with cheap cone filter for a few bucks. but i'm sure you can just get the Adapter at the local ricer store and any cone filter.

^^^Thanks Erik. I’ve got a lead on one that’s already got a port fabed up for the distributor. We’ll see if it works out. If not I’ll do it myself.

3 wiring harnesses shipped to Brett for a little bit (ok, a lot) of reworking.

I also ordered fuel filters, driveshaft bolts, and a few other loose items. Updated clutch master hose should be at the house tomorrow so I can install the new slave and hose. I’ll also pick up a generic 10mm brake line to make up a clutch hardline. The Eastwood flare tool will come in handy again!

Installation of the fuel pump, hoses, filters, etc should be done this week if I can decide on a return line. Also would like an inline fuel pressure gauge like I have on the fuel rail of the RamJet. Saves a ton of time troubleshooting knowing the pressure is good. I’m not sure the best place to install that.

I’m planning on using an accelerator pedal out of my ‘73 40 along with a longer cable from a RHD BJ42. Just need to measure tomorrow to be sure the
78180-90803 is the right one.

I will have to drill one hole in the firewall for the cable and one for a second mounting point for the pedal I think. Need to get all the bits and pieces together to be sure it will all work before any holes get made.

I appreciate all the members here getting me motivated again to get this done. I was feeling a bit discouraged a few weeks ago but after @cruiserbrett stopped in for a visit and some encouraging conversations with @Bear and @cppilot I've got wind in my sails again!

Then fitted the shroud with the radiator in. Forgot to elongate the hole where the drain extension goes so did that. Not the prettiest but it will work. I did spray the edges to prevent rust...

Too close for comfort here by the driver frame...

Trimmed that. Then realized I just trimmed the adapter. Radiator out again and trimmed the shroud too. Much better fit. Then realized the fan belt wouldn’t pass the shroud. Ugh. Back off and trimmed that...

More paint and fitting again. Looks pretty damn good actually. Hooked up all the coolant hoses. I’m sure I forgot something and this will all have to come apart but....

I couldn’t help but put the front apron on because after a few months I finally could!!!!

Looking great.....

Option 2 allows an fittings to plumb to the high pressure line from a stock 3fe fuel filter.

Erik-

Thanks for the links. I've decided to run rubber fuel line from the tank to filter #1 and then to the pump, then EFI fuel hose to the second filter and then up to the stock hard line. I'm not sure how the stock filter and high pressure hose is set up. I did remove this cut hose from the hard line so I need to find some type of fitting to connect here. Maybe I can tie the gauge in near that?

"I did remove this cut hose from the hard line so I need to find some type of fitting to connect here"
so the hard line is cut or soft? you need fuel in? like how to connect from your under pressure filter to the engine? what filter are you running?

Yes the stock supply hose with 19mm fitting that connected to this 14mm was just cut at one end. So I removed it and will need the supply side to attach to the 14mm firing on the hard line that goes to the pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

I’m using 2 Bosch filters (0450905021) or 71020. One before the pump and one after.

Hey that's looking great, even with that motor!:p

for reference the fuel filter you are using.
Gasoline Fuel Filter; O.D.: 2.52"; Inlet: M14X1.5-6H; Outlet: M12x 1.5-6H; Height: 5.30"
Looks like you need to get from M12x1.5 to a metric flare (non o-ring)
I believe i used the stock hose. Let me look over the weekend. I need to look at my truck to see what i did and what is the easiest. I am not seeing any female 14mm flare to AN adapters. correction , this might be an option
STM: STM -6AN MALE TO 14MM X 1.5 FEMALE BUBBLE FLARE FITTING | STM-FSC-614MMF

Well since I’m going to run regular high pressure fuel hose I’m thinking something like this?

14mm x 1.5 to 3/16 barb. This looks like my fitting connector but not sure. It says inverted flare.

Sorry the hyperlink was super long and I’m on my phone. Don’t remember how to link it to a word. I’m MUD illiterate these days...

I’d been trying to source a late 3 speed parking brake drum for awhile now. Rob had one if I needed it but tonight I got into a few boxes and found this...

Put the 4 speed back in the box and just need to slap a speedi-sleeve on this one.

Also ordered a BJ42 accelerator cable from Indo. Will be here sometime between now and February 27th... :(

This is a bad pic but I’m going to use the OEM hand throttle cable and pedal setup in the 45. The pedal and firewall mount are installed in the FJ40 right now so I’ll remove that and install the original back in it. I ended up using an aircraft hand throttle for the OBA so no need for this in the 40 anymore.

Just need to find the bag with all the other bits and pieces.
