This is a build that we did a few years back at Just Differentials using many parts from Nitro Gear and Just Differentials. Carl is still daily driving this vehicle and it has been driven across the state of Washington many times and even down to Moab.


JTs Super Deluxe Suspension System:

-JTs Uniball Upper Control Arms
-Old Man Emu Coil springs & Torsion Bars
-ICON 2.5” Remote Reservoir Shocks
-Diff Drop
-Timbren Front and Rear Bumpstops
-12mm BodyLift


Slee Skidplates and bellypan:

-1/4” thick, steel supports
-Front, Belly, Tcase

Custom 8” ifs & 9.5” rear diffs by Just Differentials:

We installed our Super Deluxe Suspension System with ICON 2.5" Remote Res shocks and Uniball UCAs on this build:

With the addition of 35" tires Carl decided that even though he was going to re-gear the LC he also wanted to have a little more power. Enter a TRD Supercharger from an 04, and a Unichip ECU:

You've got to post hi-res shots of you jumping it over the tracks too! That series impressed me.
 
What gears would you recommend for my 200lc lifted on 33s? I may go to 35s someday or at a minimum something in the 34s.

Since i don't live in Seattle, what's the process in terms of install at another shop (SoCal)? I heard it takes some time to do it right plus proper break in? Many thanks.
 
Next up was a roof rack, we went with the Gobi rack for a few reasons:

-Low profile (no higher then an OE rack w/ the Thule snowboard carrier)
-Sunroof remains fully functional via a quick release panel, actually runs as quiet as stock (if not quieter) because of the included wind fairing
-They come pre-wired for lights
-Extremely strong, didn't even bend or budge with over 200 lbs on top
-Direct bolt on to OE mounts
-Very lightweight, we have no increased body roll with the rack on top

If you need help locating a shop, send us an email to info@justdifferentials.com and we can help you find one near by. The setup would take less than a day and break in is pretty simple.

New Gear Break-In:All new gear sets require a break-in period to prevent damage from overheating. Any overloading or overheating will cause the gear oil to break down and the ring & pinion will fail. Please follow these guidelines to insure proper break-in.

-After light use for the first 15 to 20 miles it is best to stop and let the differential cool before proceeding.

-Avoid heavy acceleration during the break-in process.

-Nitro Gear warranty requires at least 500 miles before towing.

-Nitro Gear also requires towing for very short distances (less than 15 miles) and letting the differential cool before continuing during the first 45 towing miles.

-Nitro Gear recommends changing the oil after the first 500 miles. This will remove any metal particles or phosphorous coating that has come from the new gear set.

This may seem unnecessary but it is very easy to damage the differential by loading it before the gear set is completely broken in. The greatest damage results when a new ring & pinion has been run for several miles during the first 500 miles and the oil is very hot.

Any heavy use or overloading during the first 500 miles will cause irreparable damage to the gear set that can be determined by inspection of the gear set and will not be warranted.

Toyota Land Cruiser 80, 100, 105 Series, 3.12:1 Low Range Transfer Case Gear Kit HF2A

These gears replace your stock 2.488:1 low range ratio with a 3.116:1 ratio! The end result is a 25% gear reduction for your FJ80, FZJ80, or 100-series Toyota Land Cruiser, which combined with your automatic transmission's torque converter, results in almost a 75% total reduction for awesome Rock Crawling. No replacement bearings, seals, or gaskets required. Installation is simple to accomplish using standard hand tools, shop press, bearing splitter, and grinder. We just installed these in our 100 series before Moab last week. Results are excellent. No change is made to high range, but the heavy Landcruisers really benefit from the lower-low range.

This is a 99 so it has the 4 speed Auto, it pulls very hard on the 2-1 downshift if you stomp the throttle at say 10mph. This would cause some torque steer and have a tendency to burn off 1 front tire in loose or snowy/icy conditions. We noticed it pulled much straighter with CDL engaged. We installed the back half of an FZJ80 Transfer case to get the viscous coupler. All a direct fit, just had to shorten the driveshaft 3". Results are much nicer overall tighter feel, more controlled acceleration, much better traction in unlocked high range in snow.

^ I had this done to my transfer case and it really is very cool!
I have not had a chance to do any serious rock crawling but the little things I have done I was definitely able to see/feel the difference in technical terrain. You feel like you have much more throttle control to go much slower in crawling over obstacles.
 
Thanks to our neighbor Mission Ridge Ski Area For allowing us to take some photos for the 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine Article featuring our 100 Series and BJ73 Land Cruiser build. This was last month, when we were experiencing a bit of an inversion, so it was nice to get some shots up above the clouds. Since then winter has returned fortunately.

Wow, very nice rig. Question regarding the UCA's: Anything additional that needs to be installed with the Uniball UCA's other than just a simple swap out? My goal is to replace OEM with something a bit stronger that gives the front end a bit more articulation.
 
The uca's can be installed alone, but the key of improving the ride is longer shocks, which is why the uca's were designed. The new models are a ball joint type, and utilize the tacoma type joint, so they can be purchased separately at common auto part stores.pics too come.

I have an OME 2 1/2" lift that I bought from Slee last year, so assume that the longer shocks that came with the kit will suffice? I can't recall which shocks come with the Slee bought OME however can look at the paperwork to determine for certain. Is there a certain OME shock that you can confirm is a good fit for the UCA's?
